Door Panel Full fitting Instruction Brochure

Floodtite Door Panel:- This product is intended for installation in doorway entrances to properties. It requires a fixing frame to be pre-fitted to the doorframe and this should be carried out by a reputable contractor or competent DIY person. Once the fixing frame is in place the door panel can be installed in time of flood alert using no additional tools other than the T-handle screws supplied. The weight of the Panel varies between 3 and 5 kilos depending on size and can be carried by one person, although we recommend two people to install the wider French Door panels when possible. If you are not sure whether your particular property is suitable for the Floodtite Door Panel, you should seek advice from a suitably qualified person such as a building surveyor. The product can be used in coastal areas where floods may consist of saline or contaminated waters, but it must be washed thoroughly with disinfectant afterwards and dried well. Please read – and keep with the Panel – the accompanying laminated guidance notes on using and storing your Floodtite Door Panel. BSI Kitemark Certification This product has been tested against the standard set of tests as defined in PAS 1188-1:2009 which represent typical conditions that may be experienced during a flood in the UK. This includes testing the product for leakage under static water levels 600mm above the invert level, waves up to 0.1m high, and parallel currents up to 1.0 m/s. The testing undertaken under this PAS excludes all other components of the flood protection system. Conformance of the product to PAS 1188-1:2009 does not mean it is suitable for all buildings or locations. If the user is in any doubt as to the suitability of a product they should seek further guidance as set out in “Preparing for floods: Interim guidance for improving the flood resistance of domestic and small business properties” (OPDM, 2003), or from the Flood Protection Association (www.floodprotectionassociation.org) or other professional advisers. Secure using masking tape. • Place Panel directly onto fixing frame and mark out anchor points, using the Panel as a template. • After marking, drill out the anchor points to a depth of 30mm using the 7.5 mm Bit. • Apply good quality external grade sealant (supplied) to the rear of fixing frame. • Sealant should be applied in generous amounts positioned evenly across the fixing frame ensuring a good quantity especially around the bottom corners. • Position the fixing frame onto the doorframe and secure using screw inserts (supplied). Apply pressure to all areas of the frame until an even amount of sealant is squeezed from the edges of the unit. • Allow 30 minutes to dry then, using the 6mm Allen key, apply approximately one complete turn on each of the screw inserts. Remove excess sealant using a putty knife or similar implement to leave a neat finish. • Insert ‘Dome head’ screws (supplied) into the anchor points to protect from foreign debris. • It is essential that the fixing frame is painted, in order to protect it from UV sunlight. Normally this would be in the same colour as the door frame in order to minimize the visibility. • Attach the T-handle screws (supplied) to the Door Panel and secure with anti-loss washers (supplied).
