In the same 1970’s, OMG expanded its activities to include the design and construction of package dosing systems, manufactured according to customer’s specifications and the main governing standards for Oil & Gas, chemical and petrochemical markets.

During the 1980`s, OMG initiated the introduction of a formalised quality system, with the first complete quality system being adopted in 1992. In the spring of 1996, OMG quality system was certified as conforming to ISO 9001.

Unlike other pump manufacturers, OMG has chosen to retain all design and construction activities in its property maintaining a higher level of quality control and greater manufacturing flexibility. This enables OMG to develop customized tailormade applications meeting all specific dosing requirements.

Production processes

The OMG production unit covers an area of 11,000 m², of which more than 7000 m² are covered.

The factory is located in an enviable position, in the center of one of the main European industrial areas, approximately 1 km and 5 km respectively from the “Autostrada dei laghi” (the Lakes motorway connecting Milan with central Europe) (Gallarate exit) and the Milan Malpensa international airport.

The following production and coordination departments are located in the factory:

warehouse (over 1500 m²),
mechanical machining, with over 50 machine tools, 20 of which are numerically controlled,
assembly, covering an area of 1000 m²,
welding and dosing systems assembly, employing welders qualified to ASME standards and covering an area in excess of 1000 m². The department is equipped with machines for welding pipes and metal works,
test laboratory (over 500 m²), including a metrological room where measuring tools used in the production process and for testing are periodically calibrated,
pumps testing room, where each individual pump is run-in and tested to ascertain its fault-free operation and total compliance with the customer`s requirements, all in accordance with the setting-up and inspection procedures of the OMG certified quality system,
painting and dispatch, including a spray paint booth and facilities for packing construction.

The Gallarate structure is completed by the following departments:

engineering and design, employing designers utilizing an integrated CAD network equipped with two- and three-dimensional CAD systems,
job co-ordination department, looking after the co-ordination of the internal principal production processes,
sales, including commercial staff highly specialized in process pumps and dosing system sectors, daily available to customers for any type of technical consultation, whether it be on the pumps themselves or system characteristics,
procurement, financial, administration and personnel, R&D, Quality Health, Safety & Environment Management.

Quality system and reference standards

Since the late 80`s, OMG has been utilizing a quality system in line with UNI EN ISO standards.

The quality system was UNI EN ISO 9002 certified in March 1995 and extended to UNI EN 9001 coverage in 1996.

Today OMG employs an integrated quality assurance System (compliant to ISO 9001 / 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001) certified by Bureau Veritas Quality International Italia.

The same Quality System was directly validated by American Petroleum Institute.
