CUSTOMER TRAININGPROGRAMME 2014 / 2015As the market leader in the production of refuse collection vehicles, Dennis Eagle not onlystrives to develop quality products that exceed expectation in terms of performance, cost and delivery but, ensures that the training it offers on these products also reflects the same expectations in this constantly developing environment.With this in mind Dennis Eagle has launched its 2014 Customer Training Programme promoting a new training schedule which reflects the company’s expanding product rangeand the changing needs of its customers.This training programme offers revised courses on our body and chassis products aswell as incorporating new courses for 2014 such as the Euro 6 Engine FamiliarisationEuro 6 Electronic Levelling Control and Euro 6 Electronic Braking Systems.To ensure that all needs are met the programme also offers the option ofhaving the training delivered at our customers site, providing addedconvenience and flexibility or delivered in the form of bespoke courses for those who require their training to be tailored toreflect their specific needs.The training team hope that the changes made to theprogramme indicate the company’s commitment to meeting the increasing demands that this industrybrings whilst continuing to deliver an excellentquality of training for all its customers.Vehicle Operator Instruction.Body Structure and Servicing.Hopper Structure and Servicing.Hydraulic System Operation (including variable displacement pumps and proportional valves).Hydraulic Pump and Valve pressure set up procedure.Electrical System including CAN-Bus.Electrical Schematics.The Olympus Body course is designed to equipthe delegates with the information and skills to carry out repair and maintenance on the Dennis Eagle Olympus refuse body.Attending delegates should be competent engineers who have experience of working withhydraulic and electrical systems and be familiar with schematic drawings.This two day course is designed to encourage learningthrough a combination of classroom based sessionsand practical workshop exercises. Their understandingwill be evaluated throughout both days of the course by means of practical and classroom basedexercises.On completion of the course the delegates will be able to identify components and carry out repairs and maintenance in a safe and efficient manner as wellas navigate around the vehicles electrical andhydraulic schematics.OLYMPUS BODYBody Structure and Servicing.Hopper Structure and Servicing.Introduction to Operator Use.Olympus Electrical Systems Component and Operation.Fault Diagnosis and Repair.Hydraulic Front Valve Operation.Hydraulic Rear Valve Operation.Valve Strip Down.Hydraulic Pressure Check Instruction.Pump, Valve and Ram Operations.Course Content:OLYMPUS TWIN PACK (OLTP)3The OLTP course is designed to introduce delegates to the new electrical and hydraulic systems used on the Dennis Eagle Olympus Twin Pack refuse bodies.The course requires the delegates to have agood level of knowledge on basic electrical andhydraulic systems.This two day course will be delivered in both classroom and workshop sessions and the delegatesunderstanding of the subject will be evaluatedthroughout the two days by regular question andanswer sessions.On completion of the course the delegates will be ableto operate, diagnose and repair systems related to theOLTP and carry out these tasks in a safe and effectivemanner.Course Content:BODY, BIN LIFT AND ELECTRICAL TRAINING COURSESINTRODUCTION TO VEHICLE ELECTRICSThis one day course is designed to provide delegates with the basic knowledge to carry out simple repair and fault finding on vehicle electrical systems.As this is an introductory course, attending delegates are only required to have limited knowledge of electrical systems.The training will consist of a combination of classroombased learning with practical sessions. Delegates willbe encouraged to evaluate their understanding of the system by participating in regular question and answersessions and practical tasks.On completion of the course delegates will be able to identify basic electrical faults and carry out repairsin a safe and efficient manner.Course Content:Use of Multimeters and Test Lamps.Operation of Relays and Solenoids.Recognising Fuses and Ratings.Understanding Diodes Capacitors and Resistors.Battery Testing.Charging Circuits. Understanding Wiring Diagrams and Symbols.Wire size, Ratings and Repairs.Electrical Fault Finding.4BODY, BIN LIFT AND ELECTRICAL TRAINING COURSESBody Structure and Servicing.Hopper Structure and Servicing.Hydraulic Schematic Layout.Pump, Valve and Ram Operations.Hydraulic Pressure Adjustment.Electrical Systems.CANbus System Operation and Maintenance.Electrical Schematics.PHOENIX 2 (P2) & CANbusThe P2 course is designed to equip delegateswith the knowledge to carry out repair and maintenance on the Dennis Eagle Phoenix 2refuse body.Attending delegates should be competent engineers who have experience working withhydraulic and electrical systems and be able tonavigate schematic drawings at a basic level.The two day course is to be delivered on-site at customer’s premises and combines a mixture of classroom and practical based learning.On completion of the course the delegates will be ableto identify the Phoenix 2 main structure, componentsand operation and the methods which should beemployed to navigate Dennis Eagle electrical andhydraulic systems safely.Course Content:Body Structure and Servicing.Hopper Structure and Servicing.Hydraulic Schematic Layout.Pump, Valve and Ram Operations.Hydraulic Pressure Adjustment.Electrical Systems.Electrical Schematics.HIGH CAPACITY TWIN PACK(HCTP)The HCTP course is designed to equip delegateswith the knowledge to carry out repair and maintenance on the Dennis Eagle High CapacityTwin Pack refuse body. Attending delegates should be competentengineers who have experience working withhydraulic and electrical systems and be able tonavigate schematic drawings at a basic level.The two day course is to be delivered on-site at customer’s premises and combines a mixture of classroom and practical based learning.On completion of the course delegates will be able toidentify the components and operations used on theHCTP. The course will provide them with the skills tonavigate through the HCTP hydraulic and electricalsystem and carry out repairs in a safe and effectivemanner.Course Content:Hoist Structure and Servicing.Hydraulic Schematic Layout.Pump, Valve and Ram Operations.Electrical Components & Repair (PCB systems).Electrical Components & Repair (CANbus systems).BETA 2 BIN LIFTThe Beta 2 course is designed to equip delegateswith the knowledge to carry out repair and maintenance on the Dennis Eagle Beta 2 Binlift.Attending delegates should be competent engineers who have experience working withhydraulic and electrical systems and be able tonavigate schematic drawings at a basic level.The two day course is to be delivered on-site at customer’s premises and is a mixture of classroom andpractical based learning. Delegates are encouraged todevelop their understanding on the subject throughout the day by participating in group activitiesand question and answer sessionsOn completion of the course the delegates will be ableto identify the Beta 2 main structure, components andoperations as well as understand the methods thatshould employed to navigate the Beta 2 hydraulic andelectrical systems in a safe and effective manner.Course Content:These courses will only be delivered at a customer’s site. On site courses follow the same structure as ourWarwick based courses but allow for additional practical sessions to be delivered in the workshop environment over the two day period. The course encourages delegates to developtheir understanding through a combination of theoretical based sessions and practical exercises.REVISEDFOR 2014On completion delegates should be familiar with the newD8K Engine, locate its main components and identifytheir functions, understand the methods required to calibrate both the air suspension, air braking and stabilitycontrol systems as well as recognise faults and carry outrepairs and maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.ELITE 6 CHASSIS Course Content:Day 1 - Volvo D8K Euro 6 Engine.Euro 6 legislation.Exhaust after treatment (EGR) and Particulate filter.ECU functions and locations.Fuel system.Diagnostics.Day 2 – Electronic Braking System (EBS).Air braking components and function.Calibration and adjustment of braking systems and stability control.Diagnostic and fault rectification.Day 3 - Electronic Levelling Control (ELC).Air suspension component and function.Calibration and adjustments.Diagnostics and fault rectification.This three day training course is designed to equipdelegates with the knowledge to carry out repairsand maintenance on the Dennis Eagle Elite 2Chassis. Delegates will be encouraged to evaluate theirunderstanding of the system by participating in regularquestion and answer sessions and practical tasks.On completion of the course delegates will be able toidentify ETS faults and carry out repairs and calibrationsin a safe and efficient mannerCourse Content:ETS Function.ETS Safety and Depressurising. Adjusting and Calibration of Steering System.Electrical Schematics.Hydraulic Schematics and Valves.Fault Diagnostics Codes and Alarms.This two day course designed to provide delegates with an understanding of the workings of the Euro 4/5 Engine. The training willprovide each delegate with the opportunity to participate in a full strip and rebuild of the engineand its ancillaries as well as be instructed on howthe engine is integrated into the Dennis EagleChassis.The training on both days will combine classroom basedlearning with practical sessions. If cancellations are made less than 10 working days before the course is due to start, the full cost of thetraining course will be charged.If the original delegate is unable to attend a course substitute delegates will always be welcomed.AccommodationDennis Eagle will be pleased to arrange any accommodation required during atraining course on your behalf.
