Working electrodes are placed in Teflon racks and these, in turn, are placed within tanks of dye solution. Dye solution is pumped through these tanks and re-circulated through a central reservoir. Dye solution temperature is controlled within the reservoir, which also acts as a storage tank. Within the dye tanks, the flow of dye solution is manipulated to produce uniform flow of the dye across the working electrodes. Nitrogen gas is utilised within the tanks and reservoir to ensure a stable, non-volatile environment for the dye solution. All of these features combine to optimise dye absorption into the working electrode and reduce processing time.
