GIS-based Dynamic Emission Inventories EKatDyn The creation and regular updating of emission inventories is a standard task in air quality control and environmental accounting. Integrated into the GIS systems ArcGIS® or ArcView, IVU Umwelt develops und sets up individual dynamic emission inventories (EkatDyn). ... Year Y Year X Dynamic Data - traffic - population - ... Factors determining the emissions (e. g. traffic volumes, exhaust temperature, fuel type), on the other hand, vary with time. But they too, as a rule, have a geographical reference (e. g. the position of the counting/measurement site, a town's population). A GIS allows both information levels to be linked and thus assign dynamic attributes to static geo-objects The time-consuming provision of geographical attributes needs to be carried out only once. Via links and integrated tools, attributes with temporal variation can easily be updated. Thus, current inventories are obtained efficiently. EKatDyn-User interface in ArcView GIS-Integration The dynamic emission inventories are integrated into ArcGIS® oder ArcView. They offer • well-known user interfaces of GIS systems • complete integration of modelling of emissions • consistent and redundancy free data management • fast processing of detailed base data • easy-to-use update functionality of the inventory • direct use of all GIS functionaliy for further analyses, e. g. geostatistical analyses • easy creation and display of thematic maps • use of powerful GIS capability to visualize and present data and results Road traffic • based on detailed street network, e. g. ATKIS • link to counting stations for major roads • estimation of traffic load for minor roads based on socio-demographic data • derivation of road gradients from GIS data • easy generation of raster data • detailed emission modelling considering (among others): o fleet composition o stop & go o cold start o non-exhaust PM Emissions of road traffic Domestic combustion • based on regional facility data, e. g. for housing blocks • distinction between households and small businesses • base emission factors, facility profiles and fuel profiles based on German UBA FB 29546364 and UBA FB 29944140 • adjustable parameters and profiles • easy generation of raster data Emissions of domestic combustion More information on IVU Umwelt GmbH, its products and services is available at www.ivu-umwelt.de/e.
