The FAMAT dry-barrel Fire Hydrant is in the compliance with ANSI/ AWWA C502 standard. Its unique patent design allows easy operation and in the same time helps to prevent tampering. An intentional section of weakness (breakable coupling flange) is set just above the ground line, to protect the hydrant from major damage due to impact from motor vehicles; it minimizes damage to the stem and the main valve and allows easy repairs. The oil reservoir is o-ring sealed and designed to automatically grease the stem at each opening of the hydrant. A weather shield on the operating stem nut protects from rain, dirt, dust and accumulation of ice. To prevent freezing, any water in the hydrant barrel drains out at the bottom each time the hydrant is shut after use. The hydrant is internally and externally epoxy painted to protect it from corrosion. The red colour is RAL3020.
