Fast Repair Clamp Brochure

FAST Repair Clamp The FAST technology is continuously being developed with the objective to provide the end user with a total solution for deployment of fibre in sewers. The FAST system provides a “tried and trusted” method of installation. Over the last eight years more than 450,000 metres of cables have been installed using the clamp and conduit technique in pipes from 200mm up to and including 700mm. However not all methods of installation have the same proven track record. Water companies, Local Authorities and Network owners have been left with cables hanging in sewer lines in cities around the world. The fibre industry should not forget the primary use of a sewer, which is to transport waste water to treatment plants for processing. Cables hanging in sewers prevents the normal daily maintenance of sewer cleaning and rehabilitation. Alternative techniques to FAST leave holes drilled into the pipe fabrication and as a result the structural integrity of the sewer may have been damaged. The clamp and conduit technique in sewer pipes is a known technology and has been an accepted disruption in the flow for many years. The thickness of the clamp band is less than that of an offset joint ranging from 0.3mm to a maximum of 1mm on a 700mm clamp. FAST Repair clamps with Robots Using the same system of FAST robots Ka-Te now have a tested solution to repair hanging cables in sewers. Similar to the standard version of clamps the band has the same specification of manufacture. However unlike the standard clamp where the clips are mounted under the band the repair clamp has it’s system of fixing mounted to the outside. This enables the cables to be picked up and pushed to the top of the pipe. One or more cables can be placed at any one time and after the clamp has been expanded the spring system can be triggered holding it in position in the pipe. The clamps can be placed throughout the complete pipe length approximately 1.5 metres apart to ensure a strong, robust construction where normal daily sewer maintenance can performed without concern. It is part of the FAST philosophy to know exactly where the robot is at any particular time, in order that the cables can be moved away from any lateral, offset joint etc., and post installation, the asset owner (Municipality) and network owner know where the cables are situated. The measurements that are made using FAST technology are extremely accurate because the measurement devices are mounted directly on the robot carrier. Each wheel can measure independently of the other and signal the the operator should a difference occur. FAST ROBOT SYSTEM The clamps have undergone many tests to ensure the product will provide a real solution to cables that interfere with the daily use of the sewer, including stress test, high pressure cleaning and durability.
