FerMac - 368 - Gas Analyser Brochure

Just as with a dissolved oxygen probe, the dedicated FerMac368 Gas Analyser is the best solution. With its own LED displays and calibrationcontrols, the FerMac 368 can be used withany size or make of bioreactor. It does notrequire complex installation and can beused either as an independent instrumentor through existing fermentation software. The Fermac 368 incorporates a flow meter and pump whichensures a constant flow of gas through the analyser, independent of varying air sparge rates through thefermentation vessel.Measurement ofmicrobial activity -that most importantof high valueparametersThe Electrolab FerMac 368 Gas Analyserhas been specifically designed forfermentation use to provide a cost effective method of measuring gaseousoxygen and carbon dioxide. At Electrolab, we realise that the best methodof determining metabolic rate is by analysis of off-gas O2 and CO2.When a fermentation is carried out, the proportions of off-gas oxygenand carbon dioxide are good indicators as to the efficiency ofthe reactor process and the current status withinthe fermenter.www.electrolabtech.co.ukWhilst existing bioreactor instrumentation maintains stability of the process parameters,it is not ideally suited to the determination of metabolic rate within the vessel. The massspectrometer has been used for the analysis of bioreactor exhaust gases but this is anexpensive option and it is often multiplexed which can result in missed results as eachindividual bioreactor is cycled. The high stability CO2 measurement system utilisesinfrared absorption technology. By using a physicalmeasurement technique, the sensor offers highselectivity, fast response and is virtually immune topoisoning. Careful design of the electronics and opticsprovides a stable sensor capable of accurate and reliablemeasurement, giving long periods between recalibration. The O2 measurement system utilises an electrochemicalsensor which has been specifically designed for thisapplication. Featuring long life operation with easy, economical replacement, the cell isinherently stable and unaffected byCO2 or other gases and can becalibrated using ambient air.• Low cost gas analysis which was formerly the preserveof more expensive equipment.• Independent on-line measurement designedspecifically for fermentation use.• Easy to install and transfer between bioreactors.• Low maintenance costs with easy replacementof the oxygen cell which can be calibrated using air.• Space saving designed stainless steel case whichwill fit neatly into the laboratory environment.• Analogue outputs can be connected to existingfermentation software.• Internal pump keeps the flow rate through theanalyser constant and independent of thefermentation sparger rate.• Connected outside the sterile environment eliminatingcontamination and making it easier to incorporatein your GMP procedure.Measurement SystemsElectrolab Biotech LtdUnit E2, Northway Trading Estate,Tewkesbury, Glos GL20 8JH, UKtel: +44 (0) 1684 291007fax: +44 (0) 1684 291006email: info@electrolabtech.co.ukwww.electrolabtech.co.ukSPECIFICATIONO2 CO2Range 0-50% 0-10%(Other ranges available)Resolution 0.1% 0.01%Calibration Calibration Gases or Air Calibration GasesElectrochemical Cell withtemperature compensationInternal Sampling Pump 40-240 ml/minuteDual Analogue Outputs 0-5 or 0-10 volt outputs for recorder,(4-20 milliamps available as an option) fermenter controller, computer etcPower 115/230 VAC 50/60 Hz 50 WattDimensions 190mm wide x 190mm high x 330mm deepWeight 6 kgsLow cost data logging software is available as an option. To discuss your specific requirements, arrange a demonstration or obtain furtherinformation and pricing, contact us:Sensor Type Near Infrared Absorption
