In 2011, Sony developed the Sony Recycled Plastics or SoRPlas, a product made of 99% recycled plastics in its attempt to reduce consumption of oil. Air-conLightsOthersProcess EquipmentAir-conLightsOthersFrom the figure above, you would have analysed that unlike regular buildings, 1/5 of the energy consumption in the DSM Centre is being allocated for the operation of process equipment. With no options to cut back on energy without affecting productivity, other areas of the energy consumption chart needs to be scrutinized in order to achieve 25% energy savings under the Gold Plus Green Mark Certification guideline. Energy and water saving features were optimized through the installation of more efficient water fittings as well as T5 and LED lighting. Reducing the cooling load for the Centre was crucial and this was done by eliminating the west facing façade, utilizing solar reflective paint, optimizing natural and mechanical ventilation as well as creating good insulation for the walls and roof. Materials used for this project were DSM DYNEEMA, global company in innovation and technology has officially opened its new Asia Pacific Technical centre right here in Singapore. The 2500 sq m state-of the-art technical centre features Asia’s first ever independent ballistics testing facility. Hailing from the Netherlands, DSM is well informed on the benefits of green and sustainability. With incentives implemented by the Economic Development Board (EDB), DSM Dyneema managed to achieve a GoldPlus standard in accordance to Singapore's Building Construction Authority (BCA) Green Mark Scheme. 25% 50% 30% WATER CONSUMPTION ENERGY CONSUMPTION HVAC EFFICIENCY sourced from the Singapore Green Label and contain high levels of recycled content.
