Project Kibada tackles problems such as high electrical tariffs for the Tanzanians living in the town of Dar Es Salaam. All 200 landed homes will feature passive designs which would save on energy and water consumption. Apart from high electrical tariffs in Tanzania, heat may sometimes be unforgiving in this East African country. With low window to wall ratio for these homes, the need for cooling would not be an issue since each room is also ensured a window for natural ventilation and day lighting. By conceptualizing rainwater harvesting systems, we were able to turn water scarcity into water abundance. Drought tolerant plants with low water consumption would also be planted around the residence for landscaping. For a better urban future Electric tariffs in Tanzania saw an alarming increase of 40.29%1 since January ,and to help Tanzanians cope with these incremental costs, photovoltaic panels which create 8000kw/hr worth of energy were installed. These photovoltaic panels are able to create energy for common areas and light up the residential area for the whole year. 2 1 http://allafrica.com/stories/201301020034.html Besides ensuring a healthy and sustainable environment , the building and construction process in all of our projects are closely monitored to ensure that electricity, water and material wastage are kept at a minimal. Materials used are ensured to contain recycled content. After winning the much coveted Green Mark Gold award for Non-residential Existing building with help from GreenA consultants, the 15 story office tower in Petaling Jaya went and broke records, by achieving their second Gold Green Mark award for office interior. The Gold Green Mark Award is the award for building and Construction under the Green Mark scheme. Even though the QI Tower was not constructed with green and sustainability in mind , we managed to achieve two Gold Green Mark awards, making them the first building in Malaysia to obtain DUAL certification.
