The event is a great opportunity to:• Showcase methane mitigation and abatement proj-ects and technologies• Learn about the latest project opportunities, technolo-gies, and services• Meet with potential project partners and financiers• Explore key technical, financial, and policy issues• Interact with high-level government agencies from 30 countriesThe previous Methane Expos were held in 2007 in Beijing, China, and in 2010 in New Delhi, India. The latest Expo in New Delhi included more than 500 participants from 36 countries, featured 150 methane capture and use project opportunities, and attracted numerous exhibitors.Canada is pleased to host the third Global Methane Initiative Expo in March, 2013.From March 12 to 15, in the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada will welcome delegates from over 40 partner countries to discuss international methane abatement activities that address both climate and energy security goals. Recognizing the importance of reducing short-lived climate pollutants as part of a comprehensive strategy to address climate change, reducing emissions of SLCPs has the potential to bring both near-term climate benefits and important positive co-benefits for air quality, agricultural productivity and human health. Canada believes that international coop-eration to address energy and economic security con-cerns through accelerated development and deployment of clean energy technologies is a key element in global efforts to develop global climate agreement.I look forward to seeing you in Vancouver in 2013”– The Honourable Peter Kent The Minister of the Environment of CanadaJoin Us for a High Quality Technical and Policy ConferenceMethane Expo 2013 will feature technical and policy ses-sions in each of the Global Methane Initiative’s sectors including:• Agriculture• Coal Mines• Municipal Solid Waste• Municipal Wastewater• Oil and Gas SystemsAs well as cross-cutting issues. GMI achieves this by creating an international network of partner governments, pri-vate sector members, development banks, universities, and NGOs in order to build capacity, develop strategies and markets, and remove barriers to project development for methane reduction in partner countries. The Initiative is comprised of 42 Partner governments and more than 1,100 public and private sector organizations engaged in methane recovery and use projects and activities worldwide.about GMIFor More InformationThe Methane Expo 2013 website contains the most up-to-date information about the Expo, including program and agenda updates, supporter and exhibitor forms, and hotel reservation information.
