PRESSURE SEAL BONNETGLOBE VALVEBABCOCK VALVES ?????????????????????????????????? 231BODYAvailable both in cast andforged steel, it has beendesigned to meet all therequirements of ASME, API andBS..The body-bonnet connectionis made by a pressure sealgasket. Its pre-stress conditionis achieved by means of boltsscrewed to the bonnet flange.Ends are normally butt-weldingalthough they can be alsoflanged on request. All bodies are provided withintegrally cast bosses, locatedand sized in accordancewith ASME B16.34, which allowthe prov is ion o f d ra inconnections, supplied onrequest.2BONNETUsually constructed in thesame materials as the body, being designed so that the wallthickness always exceeds therequirement of API 600.A back seat (13) bush is fittedinside the bonnet lower cavity,to provide a closure when devalve is fully open. This permitsthe valve to be repacked whilein service. The bonnet has a deep stuffingbox in which packing rings areplaced.Stuffing box is designed withsufficient space to allow lanternring to be fitted.3YOKESeparate rigid yoke is providedto withstand the thrust of theactuator. Large windows alloweasy access and ventilation ofthe packing area. The yoke isconnected to the body by atwo pieces clamping ring (193)and four clamp bolts. Thisconnection is very solid andenables easy maintenance atsite. The upper part of the yoke issuitably machined to house theyoke sleeve (11).The yoke is usually made ofcast carbon steel regardlessthe type of body material, unless otherwise required bythe client.4STEMConstructed in stainless steel, machined from solid bar stock. The single piece non rotatingstem is connected to the disc(8) by a rounded headconnection trough bearing ring(31A), and a stem retainer (29)and disc nut (18) assure theintegrity of the kit.A conical shoulder is alsoprovided to ensure effectiveand tight seal backseat whichallows the stuffing box to bereplaced with the valve inservice. The stem dimensionsconform to API 600. Specialcare is taken in the machiningof the stem, including the finalpolishing of the travelling area(contact with the stuffing box). This allows a low-frictionsurface and a super iorcorrosion resistance.5 - 125GLAND BUSHING ANDFLANGEThey are supplied in twoseparate self aligning pieces,to ensure uniform pressure iseffected during tightening ofthe packing. The upper part of the gland, which comes in contact withthe gland flange, is spherical inshape. The gland flange is made ofcarbon steel but, upon request, other materials can be supplied.22 - 128GLAND BOLTS AND NUTSThe gland studs are of theeye-bolt type, which can beprovided with live load systems,by means of belleville rings.6SEAT RINGSupplied in forged stainlesssteel, hardfaced with Stellite-6(2 mm of minimun thickness).Seat ring is renewable, normallywelded to the body.Sealing contact surface islapped for a perfect tight seal.Contolled hardness differentialsare maintained between thedisc and the seat ring, asrequired by API 600 Std.11YOKE SLEEVEDesigned to permit removalfrom the bonnet or yoke whilethe valve is in service. The yoke bushing assembly ismounted in ball bearings. It isnormal ly made of castaluminium bronze, having highresistance to wear and highmelting point. Other materialssuch as Ni-resist can besupplied on request.13BACK SEATThe back seat can be suppliedas a threaded stainless steelbush, welded to the bonnet orof integral type. It can behardfaced with Stellite-6 ororther materials as required. This seat allows the valve to berepacked under pressure.15HANDWHEELThe handwheel is normallysupplied of Hammer type, made of cast construction. The handwheel is designed toallow easy operation of thevalve. Other types of controlare available and, in somecases, are indispensable for agood operation, for instance:??*OHPU?^OLLS???.LHY?VWLYH[Vr.? .LHred hammer handwheel.??,SLJ[YPJ?HJ[\\H[Vr.? Electro-hydraulic actuator.??7UL\\TH[PJ?HJ[\\H[Vr.17PRESSURE SEAL GASKETThe pressure seal gaskets areusually supplied of compressedgraphite, bordered on the upperand lower edges with braidedfilaments of carbon fiber andinconel wire..HZRL[Z can also be made instainless steel.68PACKINGPacking is made of an adequatenumber of preformed rings. For general applicatios high gradegraphite material is supplied, using compressed rings in thecenter and braided anti-extrusionrings on top and bottom. .YHWOP[eis selected of an approved quality.Other types of packing are alsoavailable for particular services.132SPACER RINGMade of a single piece coveringthe upper part of the pressureseal gasket. It is normallymanufactured in the samematerial as the body.133GASKET RETAINERIt is made normally of the samematerial as the body, andconstructed in four pieces, calledsegments. The segments are sizedto minimize the gap among them. The segmental ring supportsall the forces transmitted fromthe bonnet through thepressure seal gasket and thespacer ring. It is calculated towithstand all the force withoutcracking.134BONNET RETAINERDesigned sufficiently resistantto withstand the forcestransmitted by the bonnetscrews (111).The bonnet retainer is normallymade of same material as thebody, but it can be constructedin any other material on request. It is machined to match exactlywith the body, what guaranteesa pefect alignment of the unit.193YOKE CLAMPThe body-yoke connection iscreated by means of a bipartiteclamping ring. The internalconnection between the clamp, body and yoke is conical, assuring a perfect tightening.8DISCConstructed in forged stainlesssteel.Disc is of swivel type, allowedto turn round freely upon thestem. Normally is of loose, Plugtype, though can also of Ball,Needle and Parabolic shapes(equal percentage). Contactface is overlayed with Stellite-6(2 mm of minimun thickness). The stem-disc combination canbe adapted to Stop-Checkfunction.PLUG TYPE DISCBALL TYPE DISCNEEDLE TYPE DISCPARABOLIC TYPE DISCBABCOCK VALVES ?????????????????????????????????? VALVE CODE 956BPE´s Y-body (flite flow) pressure seal globe valves are designedwith the most advanced tecnologies obtained from directexperience in boilers fabrication.Among the diferent functions of this type of valve, most relevantaplication is as MLLK ^H[LY Z[VW ]HS]L, used to protect thewater piping between the economizer and the feed waterheaters during the hydrostatic boiler test. These valves are also applicable wherever large volumes areto be handled at high pressure and/or high temperatures, handling steam and water at aceptable velocities and pressuredrops.DESIGN FEATURES? Low pressure drop, aproximately 70% less than verticalT-body valves. This makes possible to have globe valvereliability without compromising on the ideal pipe size, sincepressure loss in Y-body globe design is comparable to thatof venturi gate valve.
