He is the former Chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Gang Investigator’s Network (MARGIN), and former board member of National Alliance of Gang Investigator’s Association (NAGIA). He served with the Illinois Department of Corrections, Los Angeles County Sheriff ’s Department, and the past nineteen years with the Prince George’s County Police Department (MD).Mr. Avendorph is a national trainer and speaker on Street Gangs, Defensive Tactics, Interviewing Techniques, and Community Policing, and is a certifi ed instructor with the Maryland Police Correctional Training Commission, Th e South Plains Association of Governments (TX), New Hampshire State Police Training Commission and the Regional Counter-Drug Training Academy in Meridian, Mississippi.
