Residual chemical from the slaking process often causes the pH of the grit to be high, in the range of 13 to 14. If the high pH of the grit renders it unsuitable for landfill, the pH can be reduced by washing in a Lundberg Associates’ Grit Washer. Lundberg Associates has extensive experience adjusting the scope of supply to meet our customer’s needs. The grit washer system lends itself to these goals. Individual components or full modules, complete with instrumentation and a local control panel, can be provided. • Washed in an agitated tank • Settled grit is removed with a screw conveyor • Wash water can be used as weak wash • Typically the washed grit pH is less than 12 • Supply is pre-piped, frame mounted module or individual components • Local instrumentation as well as control panels can be included in the supply • Meets the paint filter test for grit dryness
