Turn off the water supply to the system. Depress the red pressure release button on the top of the filter housing to relieve system pressure. If your system was not equipped with a pressure relief valve, leave open a nearby faucet. This will make removing the filter housing easier. Unscrew the housing from the cap using the filter wrench included with your system, or a commercially available “strap” type wrench. Locate and remove the large o-ring using a small, clean flat head screw driver. Try not to remove any of the lubricant. Set aside a clean, safe place.
