Wood made good with color The Color Critter II uses a dry, granular coloring pigment with a precise, electronically-controlled metering system that operates off the Beast’s electronic controls. This ensures the right amount of water and pigment ? ow. The coloring system straddles the infeed conveyor and bolts to the infeed conveyor’s support posts. The colorant hopper slides down into guide posts located on the Beast’s main frame. Five discharge ports evenly spread colorant over the material. The quantity of colorant being discharged is easily adjusted by simply turning a knob that opens and closes the ports. The rate at which the colorant is discharged is controlled by the speed of the infeed conveyor. If the feed system stops, so does the ? ow of colorant. The colorant hopper holds in excess of 2,000 lbs. of granules. Multiple hoppers are recommended to quickly switch from one color to another, limiting downtime due to re? lling the hopper.
