safe for the environment – biologicalfuture-proof – membrane technology basedcost-effective – user-friendlywww.membraneclearbox.deThe QualityCompany –WorldwideDecentralised Wastewater TreatmentHUBER MembraneClearBox®???The situationIn view of the pollution of surface waters and seasworldwide, combined with the gradual decrease innatural drinking water resources, it has becomeincreasingly vital that we need to be sparing with ourwater. Discharge of insufficiently treated wastewaterseriously disrupts the natural environmental balance asmore and more pollutants and new substances becomenot only a heavy burden for our environment, but ahealth hazard for everyone via the food chain and watercycle. The newly introduced European standards all clearlydefine the quality of wastewater to be infiltrated orintroduced into water courses. Membrane systems, which are the most modern state-of-the-art technologypresently available for biological wastewater treatment, are able to treat wastewater to such a degree that thewater can then even be reused as hygienic servicewater.???The solution:MembraneClearBox®The HUBER MembraneClearBox® ultrafiltration systemrepresents the best clarification technique presentlyavailable in the market today for decentralisedwastewater treatment. All solids, bacteria along with virtually all germs arereliably retained by the unit with the resultant treatedhigh quality wastewater for example being reused asservice water for irrigation of gardens, which results inthe drinking water consumption of a household beingreduced by up to 40%.The excellent performance of the HUBERMembraneClearBox® ensures an effluent quality that issignificantly below the EU standards minimumrequirement for bathing waters. TheMembraneClearBox® therefore gives additional comfortto both existing and possible future users against eventighter regulations which may arise. The HUBER MembraneClearBox® is suitable for almostall situations:? As a retrofit kit for existing tanks:Retrofit of existing tanks, whether angular or round, can easily and quickly be accommodatedirrespective of the tank shape.? For installation into new tanks:The equipment is also able to be installed into newtanks or alternatively supplied pre-assembled in aseamless concrete tank.???The plantThe MembraneClearBox® is a combination of theactivated sludge process and separation of clarifiedwater by means of submerged ultrafiltrationmembranes, comprising basically three process steps:? preliminary clarification? aeration? membrane filtrationIn the preliminary treatment stage the majority of thesolids are removed from the raw wastewater bysedimentation. The first compartment of a multi-compartment septic tank, or alternatively the two firstcompartments, are therefore used as a pre-sedimentation chamber from which the pre-clarifiedwastewater flows by gravity into the biologicalmembrane plant. The last compartment is operated as an aeration tankand houses the MembraneClearBox® installation kit anda blower for the oxygen supply. Actual clarification isaccomplished by micro organisms which decomposethe pollutants and nutrients contained within thewastewater and transform them into biomass. The membrane module with a 38 nm separation sizeensures separation of the treated wastewater from theactivated sludge. The membrane itself will reliably retainall solids and bacteria along with virtually all germs asthe diameter of the membrane openings themselves are1,500 times smaller than the diameter of a human hairwhich again allows for the treated water to be reused. The associated equipment and electrical controlsrequired can be installed either into the cellar of thehouse or into a heated adjacent control cabinetpositioned adjacent to the septic tank. The HUBER MembraneClearBox® can also as anoptional extra be equipped with a remote controlfeature that reports any fault immediately by SMS.Due to the combination of on-site and remote controlfeatures the plant can be operated with theminimum operator attendance and maximumoperating reliability.Associated equipmentpermeate outlet, for discharge orinfiltration …flow meterwith limitcontactpermeate pumpaerationblowerscouringblowercontrol box incl.monitoring unitsample takingcockMembranemoduleMembranemodulescouringboxpipe aerator supplyingthe microorganismswith oxygenHUBERMembraneClearBox®1,5 / 4 – 1.2007 – 4.2004Average plant efficiency:? Excellent effluent quality (bacteria-free and virtuallygermfree) meeting EU standards for bathing waterquality? Future-proof solution due to the excellent effluentquality which gives scope for anticipated tighterlegislation? Retrofit of equipment into existing septic tanks ispossible? Electronic plant recording minimises operatorinvention.? External installation of all ancillary equipment meansthat there are no electrical or moving componentsinstalled within the tank itself.? The ability to withstand large fluctuations in loading– due to level control and intelligent electrical plantcontrol– pollution loads due to increased biomassconcentration? Easy representative sampling directly at the controlunit? Compact, space-saving, robust stainless steel design? Package design suitable for quick and easyinstallation and start-up??? Fields of application? The optimal solution for sensitive dischargessuch as:– Karst areas– Water catchment areas– Water protection areas– Sensitive receiving waters– Areas without receiving water bodies or areaswith no infiltration capacity? Irrigation or toilet flushing? Reuse of clarified wastewater thus saving potablewater.
