Instructions - Power Fail Alarm (PFA-1)

1. OPERATION MODES• When there is a power failure, the buzzer sounds red LED blinks. The green button silences the buzzer. The red LED continues to blink as long as there is a fault. • The “Plug Detection” feature detects a plug inserted into the receptacle of the PFA ,and causes an alarm if a plug is not present. (must be 3-prong plug)• The “snooze alarm” feature causes the buzzer to sound again 30 minutes after being silenced.• The unit can produce an immediate latching** alarm to detect millisecond power interruptions. Alternatively, the unit can delay before giving an alarm. (**latching means the alarm stays on until acknowledged by the button)2. SELECT MODEThe jumper pins determine the different modes as in the tables below.Jumpers C and D work in combination to produce 4 different modes as follows:3. INSTALL• Put battery snap on battery. Alarm will immediately beep.• Push green button to silence.• Plug into an wall outlet. LED will go off and the unit is ready. • If the LED is still blinking, there is a fault and the unit is not ready to detect another alarm. Most likely cause is that “plug detection” is enabled but there is no plug in the receptacle of the PFA-1.4. NOTES• LED FLASHING: indicates a fault, either no power, low battery, or, if “plug detection” is enabled, no plug. • PLUG DETECTION: there can be up to a 10 second delay before a missing plug is detected.• BATTERY LIFE is 10 years if passively monitoring. Extended use of the buzzer (70 hours) will naturally deplete the battery.
