Ultrafiltration Membrane Technology iSepTM UF Membrane Lowers Cost of Ownership Preserving Our Most Precious Resource Sustainable fresh water supplies are diminishing at an unprecedented rate due to increasing populations, agricultural use, and industrial de-mand. Wastewater recycling using ultrafiltration (UF) membranes has become a new, viable water source. Ultrafiltration provides safe, high quality effluent that can be used for a multitude of water reuse applica-tions. The Latest Innovation Lowest Fouling Most Durable Unmatched Performance TriSep Engineers have developed a submerged UF membrane design with performance characteristics before unseen in the industry. iSep is the only membrane module that incorporates the best design features of various UF/MF systems into a single format. (Integrated SpiraSep UF Module) While maintaining the design advantages of submerged membrane systems, the SpiraSep membrane has been re-engineered into a skid-mounted format. iSep was developed specifically for the most challenging wastewater applications. The combination of open flow channels, air scouring, backwashing, and frequent draining is unmatched in the industry today. The more aggressive the wastewater is, the more iSep stands out. iSepTM Reduces Membrane Fouling Typical iSepTM Treatment Results TSS <1.0 mg/l Turbidity <0.1 NTU SDI <2 iSep Features and Benefits Solids are scrubbed from the membrane surface using iSep’s innovative air scouring system. Continuous bubble-to-membrane contact and high shear forces actively clean the membrane surface. Water is “pulled” through the membrane using a slight vacuum. Membrane compac-tion is minimized due to ultra low-pressure operation. The encapsulated membrane design allows for frequent draining, thus reducing fouling by purging all solids from the system. iSep is the first submerged mem-brane design to allow for cross flow (i.e. recirculation) capabilities during operation and CIP. The spiral wound membrane construction places zero stress on the membrane, ensuring no mechanical failures. Open flow channels allow for operation on high fouling and high TSS water sources. Proven Membrane Technology SpiraSepTM UF technology is a submerged mem-brane process complete with air scouring and back-washing capabilities. Water is “pulled” through the membranes using a slight vacuum, minimizing foul-ing. Air is bubbled up through the element feed channels, actively scrubbing the membrane surface clean. The membranes are periodically back-washed to remove particulate matter using UF per-meate water. As a result, the solids profile inside the element has a “saw-tooth” pattern (as shown in the figure below), where a maximum TSS value is reached and is then subsequently reduced to the inlet value. This reduces, in some cases, the average TSS concentration by 40-50% compared to traditional submerged designs. No Broken Fibers Effluent quality is tied directly to membrane integrity and is a critical feature when operating RO pre-treatment sys-tems. The rigid, durable design of iSep UF membrane elements ensures that membrane integrity is not compro-mised. This guarantees a high effluent quality far exceeding other UF/MF formats. TriSep guarantees that you will never experience a broken fiber with iSep UF membranes GUARANTEEDGUARANTEED Doc. S1001A-10
