Appendagefabriek Kolk was founded in 1922 with the support of the Dutch water companies. The aim was to be able to guarantee a Dutch share in the supply of materials during the construction and expansion of the drinking water pipeline network. To this day, Kolk is an independent family business in which the fourth generation is active. With the knowledge and experience built up by rich history, the products developed and manufactured by Kolk are continuously further developed, improved and modernized.

Knowledge and experience form the basis for progress

The first Kolk hydrant was designed in 1923 and our fire hydrants are still a household name. In the past, Kolk has supplied many products to the former Dutch colonies such as Indonesia, Surinam and the Antilles. In the sixties, shipbuilding, in particular tanker construction, was a major customer of the products.

All the valves were supplied by Kolk for the construction of the Oosterschelde storm surge barrier.

Technological developments are a common thread through the history of Kolk. The developments that have taken place in recent years in the drinking water supply have translated into an expansion of the product range, product innovation, short delivery times, modern distribution channels, etc. The products and production techniques have been continuously adapted to the latest state of technology and the need from the market.

Kolk has developed over the years from a traditional production company into a modern flexible organization. The organization now concentrates on the composition, coating and testing of high-quality products in which the raw materials and components are sourced from a worldwide network of qualified suppliers.
