LAS MkII Scintillometer - Data Sheet

Heat fluxes and evaporation at the Earth’s surface are of great importance to the fields of meteorology and hydrology. Sensible heat flux is the transfer of heat between the Earth’s surface and the air above, due to a temperature di erence between them. The direction of this flux can be seen by measuring temperature at two heights. Latent heat flux is the result of the evaporation of water or transpiration by vegetation. For this reason, this flux is often referred to as evapo-transpiration (ET). Both fluxes are major components of the Earth’s surface energy budget.
