The River Camlin flows through the centre of the village before joining the River Shannon a short distance downstream. The termination point of the Royal Canal is also located at Clondra’s Richmond Harbour which is linked to the River Shannon Navigation System via the Clondra Canal.Clondra along with the nearby village of Termonbarry is a very popular tourist centre particularly in the summer and autumn months. The new sewerage scheme will provide for the collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater from all existing and planned developments in the village for the foreseeable future. It is estimated that the current population peaks during the summer months at 230 approximately. The new scheme provides for the staged development of the village and the Wastewater Treatment system is capable of dealing with effluent from an equivalent load of 600 persons.AGHNAGORESpringfield QuarryQuarryRIVER SHANNONTo Clondra4140.540CAMLIN RIVER38.338.238.738.740.041.0 40.839.438.837.846.646.7Camlin RiverCloondara Canal LockCRUND UND ERERTanks Liable to Floods40.243.543.242.943.942.042.242.643.541.840.840.942.340.641.146.244.844.344.441.841.038.037.737.810Kv10KvAbbey (in ruins)Liable to FloodingLiable to FloodingRichmond HarbourCloondara Canal Cloondara BridgeRichmondBridgeCloondara BridgeRichmondBridge UNDFDUND FFFFCR FD FDFDFD UNDFDFFFFFFUND FDCDCR UND UNDAGHNAGORE Derreen House Church(RC)SchoolWeirCloondara CONTROL PANEL26A1A2A3A4A5A6A7A10.2A11A12A13A14A15B2D1D3D2A8A9A10A10.1A0A7.1A6.1 A9.1A4.1The main components of the Scheme are:1) 1,250m of a 225mm sewer network.2) Wastewater Treatment Plant comprising:- Inlet Pumping Station- Screening, Oil/Grease trap and silt removal- Biological Treatment using 2 No. Rotating Biological Contactors (RBC’s)- Outlet Pumping Station- Control Building3) Outfall to the River Shannon.
