Some things are truly irreplaceable. Cement, with its unique binding properties and essential role in construction, stands as a prime example of an invention the world could not do without. But it is also a prime negative example of an industry with significant environmental impact due to its CO2 emissions and resource-intensive production processes. Its nature is twofold: is it both irreplaceable and…ill-famed.

But what if its ubiquity could – instead of being a problem – become its greatest strength? What if although cement itself might be irreplaceable, its components were easy to be replaced: with materials not only sustainable and cost-efficient but also widely available in the world? And what if we told you that we already have the solutions to do just that – available at hand?

We liked cement before it was cool.

Let’s agree on one thing: 140 years is a long time. But although the scenery may have presented a very different backdrop in the past, some things have always been the same. We have always operated with the core purpose of making the cement industry cleaner, better and more efficient. Embodying innovation – since day one.

More than a century ago, we already embarked on projects that spanned the world – becoming a global company long before the term globalisation was even coined. We defied conventions, challenged the norms and pioneered solutions that enabled customers to produce more with less – changing the rules for raw materials processing and shaping the world as we know it today.

Carrying forward this legacy we keep looking at the world asking ourselves the same old question: what’s next?
