In 1980, Herbert Meulenbroek founded his own company: Meulenbroek Jachtbouw. The first major assignment was to build a hull for a 10-meter motor yacht. Through a recycling company in Enschede, he came into contact with a German company that had approximately 60 waste presses in the Netherlands. Herbert started doing the service and maintenance for that German company. At that time, younger brother Maarten joined the company.

In 1981, the German company offered representation in addition to service and maintenance for the machines in the Netherlands. Then the eldest brother Joost also joined the business. It soon became apparent that there was a demand for small press containers in the Netherlands. Meulenbroek then designed and built the first press container. The first press was a fact, the KPC 4500. The KPC 4500 was sold in the Netherlands under the name Meulenbroek.

In Germany, especially after the fall of the wall, there appeared to be a large market for smaller press containers, which also led to the first export. In 1985, contact was made with a Swedish company in May. The first export order to Sweden followed in September of that year. Sweden is still one of the countries to which exports are made.
