BUTTERFLY DAMPERThe ML model is a butterfly damper for assemblybetween flanges on gas conduit systems. TheORBINOX standard model is designed for opera-tion at pressures of up to 500 mbar, with recom-mended speeds of below 30 m/s and temperatu-res of up to 800 ºC.It is a relatively air tight valve with a closingdegree of between 90% and 99% which canreach 100% if an air sealing system is included(see ML2).The standard model of these dampers is designedso that the assembly is carried out in such a waythat the drive shaft always remains in a horizontalposition, although there is an option of assemblywith the shaft in vertical position on request.STANDARD BUTTERFLY DAMPER (ML)DescriptionThis two-way damper has the function of contro-lling the passage of gases circulating in the con-duit. The butterfly damper is made up of a disc ordisc shutter which rotates on two semi-shafts. Thebutterfly damper is normally supplied as a singlepart, except for applications in which the dimen-sions of the unit require special transport.ConstructionThe body of the butterfly dampers is a fabricatedconstruction which can be made of different mate-rials. Standard construction supplies include dia-meters ranging from 150 mm (minimum) to 2000mm although, on request, larger sizes can be cons-tructed.The butterfly disc is constructed flat, with reinfor-cing ribs and is supported on two semi shafts. Theflat disc system is sufficiently rigid for the operatio-nal pressures of these valves and it does not havesignificant losses.Seal designThe butterflies have two types of seal design.Depending on the application, the options are:swing-thru (closure from 90 to 97%) for environ-ments with dust concentrations (less than 1000mg/Nm3); and the step seat (closure of 99%) sui-table for other applications requiring a high levelof air tightness.BearingsORBINOX supplies its butterflies with the bea-rings situated on the outside and separated fromthe packing. This way, they are kept away fromsources of heat and corrosion, thus lengtheningtheir useful life. A space has been leftfree in order to change bearings and packings inthe future without the need to remove said insula-tion.BUTTERFLY DAMPER WITH SEALINGSYSTEM (ML2)DescriptionThe butterfly damper with sealing system is compri-sed of two butterflies. The seal is created in thespace between these two discs, injecting ambientair at a higher pressure than that of the gases cir-culating in the conduits. The system creates a pres-surised chamber which guarantees he air tightnessof the valves on the conduit. This system is limitedto conduit pressures of less than 250 mm of watercolumn. This therefore guarantees the air tightnessof the valve.It has the following actuators: on/off pneumaticactuator, pneumatic actuator with regulation, andelectric actuator. The sealing system is made up ofan electroventilator, a sealing valve, a dilationcompensator and a sealing pipe.
