For larger volumes of waste material, pumping into a cart or tipper is a good alternative, this is topped with mesh so that the air pressure can escape. Another option is a compactor so volume can be 20 times less. Skins can also be compressed into briquettes, which can be used on open fire’s. Partly as a result of legal requirements under the Health and Safety at Work Act, we decided to install a new and more powerful extraction system. Not only has that created a pleasant and dust-free environment, it has also resulted in a clean product with a minimal loss of outer skin fragments, something that our customers really appreciate.”Perfect extraction performance has been achieved by installing the fish tails and extraction canopies in exactly the right places and carefully adjusting the capacity of the system to the working conditions. Multiple extraction canopies are connected to one central extraction system. Air is pumped through the extraction ducts at high velocity – at least 25 metres per second – this prevents blockages.
