The output of the compressor contains a coalescingfilter and a pressure regulator where the pressure isreduced to 70 psig.Inside the main case of the Model 111 thecompressed air is further reduced to the final desiredpressure (10 - 30 psi). The air the goes into the reactorwhere it is heated to 3500C over a catalytic surface whichconverts CO to CO2 and hydrocarbons includingmethane to water and CO2. The air then passes into acolumn of Purafil (potassium permanganate on alumina)which oxidizes NO to No2. Finally, the air passes througha column of activated charcoal which removes NO2, SO2,O2 and hydrocarbons.
