In addition to the “classical” products such as hot rolled wide and narrow strip or cold rolled strip for saw plate manufacture, BESTAR’s product offering has grown to include tool steel and high speed steel sheets, stainless products, flat bars and round bars.

Service

BESTAR, in co-operation with its network of long-term, local partners also offers a variety of value added services such as:

punching of circles
hardening and tempering of sheets, squares and circles

Laboratory
BESTAR maintains its own metallurgical laboratory in Remscheid (Germany) with state-of-the-art equipment including the following equipment and capabilities:

Spectrographic analysis to confirm or determine the chemical content of low-alloy steel, high-speed steels, as well as Cr-, CrNi-, and Boron Steels. A 1000x power electronic microscope to conduct microstructure evaluations, decarburization depth measurements, ferrite and austenite grain sizes in accordance with DIN EN ISO 643, and degree of purity/inclusion analysis in accordance with DIN 50602.
Determination of carbide formations in accordance with SEP 1520 and/or SEP 1615 for HSS-grades. Corrosion tests (salt spray tests) in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9227. BESTAR can also offer additional services to assist your customers with damage/failure analysis or cause investigations of a finished tool, research & development for alternate grades or new types of cutting tools, and heat-treat investigations.

Quality

Over time BESTAR has set standards on quality in the market. We believe quality management starts long before the actual production process. In cooperation with its partners BESTAR has developed individual quality specifications and standards:

Standards which ensure that the making of steel with alloying elements is perfectly harmonized to suit individual applications and specified chemistries,
Standards which govern the way process engineers finish our products in various work operations,
Standards for the rolling process that stipulate very clearly defined, narrow tolerances.

All this means that the manufacturing parameters and the quality of the product produced are continuously influenced in a positive manner.

Since 1996, BESTAR has been certified by Lloyd’s Register to ISO 9001 to guarantee consistent quality. BESTAR’s internal Technical Department and Metallurgical Laboratory are there not only to help guarantee the quality of incoming material, but also to assist its customers with evaluations of products from field failures to competitive product analysis.

Quality is nothing one can just talk about. Quality needs to be proven and measureable.
