This is specially true when the motorised valve is controlled by a complex system such as a fieldbus. That is the reason why our specialists are available to provide the adequate support to our customers for:• adaptation on the valve• installation• set-up• start-upExpertise and innovationExpertise is our business specialty. Our credo follows from the technical requirements of our products’ fields of application. Our products are qualified and approved by the largest prime contractors and industrial players in France and abroad. By improving our competencies and the efficiency of our processes, we enhance the quality of our products and services.Performance and SecurityThe nuclear market has shaped our expertise, our commitment to quality and to the control of your processes. By fulfilling these requirements, we undertake to make no compromise on security.Controls and ConfidenceBERNARD CONTROLS is an international industrial technological company acknowledged for its know-how and expertise in the most demanding markets. The control of processes is our business and the cornerstone of your confidence.Maintenance and repairEveryday, our technicians are available to quickly go on site for :• periodic actuator functional check-up• preventative maintenance operations• diagnosis and repairTrainingRegular training sessions are organised for our customers and our distribution network. These sessions are held either in France, at our local service centre or at customer site. Actuator technology, setting, operating and maintenance are among the most popular topics covered.4 5Overview of ST range Powerful motors Handwheel without clutch release Integrated control system versionST actuators are designed to operate valves in ON/Off service or in modulating Class iii operation.• Gearing is self-locking at all speeds• Continuous gear drive between motor and valve• Thermal cut-out on motor• Unaffected by vibration on main mechanical parts• Requires no preventive maintenance. Gearing has life-long lubrication• Direct torque and position measurement is on the output shaft making it unnecessary to process signals• Position measurement using movement reading with direct mechanical link on the output shaft• Torque measured by a dynamometer with calibrated springs are on the actuator output. The control system receives data on the actual torque transmitted to the valve instantly. The exceptionally short response time means that the system can be shut down rapidly, and the overtorque effect applied to the valve is reduced• Easy adjustment for all control systems: program with INTELLI+ or simple cam adjustment (travel limit devices) and torque limiter using only a screwdriver on other versions• With INTELLI+ control systems, absolute sensors are used to measure both position and torque data. This means that there is no possibility of the position being lost even if a power failure occurs. There is therefore no need to include a backup battery. Trouble-free operation Innovative sensors• Asynchronous motor with high starting torque• Excellent starting torque / nominal torque ratio• On/Off operation: 30% duty rating for peak service conditions of up to 360 starts per hour• Modulating class III: 50% duty rating for peak ser-vice conditions of up to 1,200 starts per hour• Motors easy to remove with sealed ball bearings fitted at front and rear• Patented manual override system• Differential geardrive allows the handwheel to be operated without releasing a clutch beforehand (except for very low torque values on model ST6)• The handwheel can therefore be operated under all conditions, even when the valve is blocked by the torque limiter• Watertight to IP68 & NEMA 6P: housings withstand a submerssion under 5 metres of water for 72 hours• Controls available: INTEGRAL+ or INTELLI+ (see following pages for further details)• Integrated SPDT switches and control logic• Non-intrusive local control selector knobs• Electronic components protected against water ingress: double-seal with two O-ring barriers between the electrical terminal compartment and the electronic components. The control knob spindles do not penetrate the enclosure.ST actuator with INTEGRAL+ control76Wide choice of controlsyou can decide on local or remote control to meet the requirements of your particular system and the environment in which the actuators are to be used. The BERNARD CONTROLS wide range of control systems enables you to choose the best solution for your needs.Benefits of Integrated Control systems• Simple : ready-to-use turnkey solution.• Safe : proven system incorporating many safety features.• Economical : saves time and money at the design and installation stages.• Intelligent : remote management of a large volume of data and optimized preventive maintenance using our digital solutions in conjunction with the fieldbus. Standard controlThe customer provides the control logic to handle all the data received from the actuator electric contacts. The reversing starters are housed in the customer's own enclosure. INTEGRAL+ controlThe INTEGRAL+ control system is fully configurable and can perform all actuator control functions, including production of status reports, fault handling, protection systems and command processing. Local controls can be disabled either locally or from a remote location. The reversing starters are incorporated in the control unit. INTELLI+ controlAs well as the functions offered by INTEGRAL+, the INTELLI+ sys-tem also allows the system to be set up and programmed without opening the unit. It includes an LCD screen plus tools for preventive maintenance. Fieldbus controlFieldbus systems are compatible with BERNARD CONTROLS integra-ted controls and allow you to control a large number of actuators or other devices and transmit/receive a great deal of data over a single two-wire serial link.Standard controlINTEGRAL+ control / INTELLI+ controlFieldbus controlSee INTEGRAL+ (A115) and INTELLI+ (A116) catalogues for further information on controls.INTEGRAL+ INTELLI+MODULA-TINGCLASS ON/OFF INTEGRAL+ INTELLI+Modulating class III POSIGAM+ INTELLI+REMOTE CONTROLPulse command • •Maintained signal • •ESD (Emergency ShutDown) • •Auxiliary• (Overrides local command)2 commands 9 optionsTimer Option •LOCALCOMMANDS Lockable selector knobs • •Digital display •Indicator lights Option •INTERNALPROTECTION Fuses • •Automatic phase monitoring (3-phase) • •Motor thermal cut-out • •Torque limiter protection • •SIGNALLINGNumber of signal relays 4 + 3 (option) 4 + 3 (option)Data items 16 23Number of fault relays 1 1Number of listed faults 8 12Analogue position feedback Option (Std on POSIGAM) OptionCONFIGURATION Configuration setting Internal (with jumpers) External - Local command knob - Fieldbus - Pocket PC - LaptopTorque/position setting method Mechanical DigitalTravel limit stop On position - On torque On position - On torqueFull configuration upload Via : Fieldbus - Pocket PC LaptopMONITORING Self-diagnostics •Torque/position curve •Actuator operating log •Partial stroking •FIELDBUS Profibus DP (single or redundant) Option OptionFoundation fieldbus OptionModbus RTU Option98Max. torqueST6 = 60 Nm ST30 = 300 NmST14 = 140 Nm ST70 = 700 NmContact our marketing dept. for higher torque values.See «Performance data» section for further details.Type of service ON/OFF - Modulating class IIICasing• Cast aluminium. • Casings are watertight to IP68 & NEMA 6 and can withstand pressure of 10 metres of water for 96 hours.Motor technology Totally-enclosed, squirrel cage 3-phase or 1-phase motor, class F insulation with integral thermal overload protection.
