SHT-2010 model is semi automatic, the operator turns the knob of the digital micrometer to enter a distance and then presses a key (Configurable by software) on the keyboard, the instrument moves from lens to indenter automatically, auto triggers and makes an indentation, after the indentation is made the instrument moves from indenter to lens automatically, then the operator focus and measures the indentation using the computer mouse,  All the distances are recorded in the software, the operator can see the graphics at will, the data can be exported to text files, comma-separated-values and to Microsoft Excel or to LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
