In 1985 Nippon Pneumatic Mfg. Co., LTD of Osaka, Japan partnered with a local group of business associates located in Cleveland, Ohio to form NPK Construction Equipment Inc.

Nippon Pneumatic Mfg. Co. LTD (NPK Japan) was founded in the early part of the 20^th century and has been designing & manufacturing construction equipment attachments since the late 1950’s. By the mid 1980’s, NPK Japan was a well-established, highly reputable manufacturer of Hydraulic Hammers, Crushers, Shears & Pile Drivers. With just 6 employees, NPK Construction Equipment, Inc. was established in 1985 to provide exclusive distribution & support for the entire western hemisphere. Shortly after its inception, NPK quickly built an extensive Dealer Network for product distribution.

In 1989, because of increased demand for product, NPK expanded by adding a fabrication facility in Wickliffe, Ohio and with it around 40 new employees. The addition vastly improved NPK’s ability to respond to the needs of its customers, transforming NPK Construction Equipment into a full-fledged designer, manufacturer, and assembler of quality products. As business continued to grow, a second building was needed for assembly in Walton Hills. It started with the lease of half the building in 1992, the purchase of the entire building in 1996, and adding an addition in 2001 leading the number of employees to grow to 81. With the ever increasing demand, NPK Manufacturing outgrew the facility in Wickliffe leading to the purchase of a new factory in Walton Hills in 2009 that was large enough to house both the Manufacturing and Assembly divisions.

In 2012, NPK DemoTrax opened its doors in Norcross, Georgia providing a full-service sales, service and rental facility for construction and demolition equipment and growing the total number of NPKCE employees to 86 (though this facility was sold in 2018 when a new dealer was introduced in Georgia). Then in 2013, NPK purchased its long time machining partner in Garfield Heights creating the Machining division and expanding the employee count to 102. Then in 2016, NPK completed the addition to the Northfield road facility allowing for all factories to be in one centralized location, optimizing production times. Over 85,000 parts are shipped throughout North and South America each year.

Currently all Top Mounting Brackets, Hydraulic Hammer Brackets, Plate Compactors, Sheet Pile Drivers, Pedestal Boom Systems, Hardcar Unloaders, and Material Handling Systems are designed, manufactured, and assembled at NPK Construction Equipment Inc. in Walton Hills, Ohio. All NPK Hammer Power Cells, Concrete Crushers, Material Processors, Demolition Shears, and Pneumatic Hammers are manufactured at Nippon Pneumatic Mfg. Co. in Nabari, Japan. Hammer Power Cells (size GH7 and smaller) and the latest “A” style Concrete Crusher models are now being assembled at NPKCE in Walton Hills. Demolition & Sorting Grabs are manufactured at NPK Europa. Every NPK product is designed with high productivity and durability in mind.

Late in 2013, NPK Construction Equipment entered into a partnership with European mining equipment manufacturer, Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik, of Emsbüren, Germany. Paus is well-known throughout Europe, Russia, and South America for their high quality, purpose built mining vehicles. NPKCE had been a supplier of tunneling hammers for Paus Mining Scalers in various markets for several years prior to the agreement to partner up. Since the partnership arose, NPK has been enthusiastically promoting the Paus brand name across US and Canadian markets. In 2018 NPK purchased two additional buildings to expand their mining division: one in Walton Hills in the same cul-de-sac as their other buildings, the other in Elko, NV.

The Paus product line consists of an assortment of mining vehicles with varying model sizes to suit any job large or small. Vehicle categories: Mining Utility Vehicles, Personnel Transporters, Mine Rescue Vehicles, Mining Scalers, and Underground Graders. The entire line of Paus mining vehicles are well-known for their durability and long lives. All vehicles are vastly customizable making them a perfect fit for applications across the board.

The “NPK” trademark has become a symbol for quality products worldwide. A serious commitment to product support enables NPK to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. NPK has always operated under the principle to be responsive & provide exceptional service to its dealers and their customers. NPK continues to hold to their high standards of quality products, support and service as they continue to propel into the mining sector. None of this would be possible without dedicated and devoted employees. Currently the staff at NPK Construction Equipment has grown to over 120 employees throughout North America, partnered with an extensive dealer support network of over 350 locations. Along with Nippon Pneumatic of Osaka, Japan; NPK Europa in Rotterdam; & NPK Middle East FZCO in Dubai, U.A.E., NPK Construction Equipment continues to expand its market and develop new products to retain its position as an industry leader.
