For oddesse, the future has already begun

For more than 100 years, the name oddesse has stood for pioneering engineering work in the field of machine and pump construction.

Customer-oriented innovations and assured quality guarantee sophisticated solutions for water supply and disposal, with which the long-established company is successful in international competition.

How it all started

In 1854, Oschersleben-based master coppersmith Forstreuter recognises the sign of the times. Boilers, steam machines and pumps are in demand for the quickly developing sugar industry. He founds the Forstreutersche Maschinenfabrik.

In 1897, the founder’s sons steer the company toward specialisation in pumps and merge with Oddesse-Dampfpumpen-Gesellschaft of Hamburg The company then operates as Maschinenfabrik Oddesse GmbH– Oddesse is a portmanteau of the names of English engineer Oddie and German businessman Hesse. The pioneering spirit of the engineer and the entrepreneurial acumen of the businessman together ensure the company’s success.

In the early 1930s, some of the most impressive technical innovations of the time are being produced: submersible motor pumps and submersible motors. These technical innovations spread the company’s excellent reputation throughout the global marketplace. Starting in 1939, the successful pump manufacturer operates under the name KLEINSCHANZLIN-ODDESSE GmbH .

Having their production facilities dismantled and handed over as reparations in 1945 don’t stop Oddesse, who quickly resume operations in 1946 and continually gain in popularity internationally. The VEB Pumpenfabrik Oschersleben impress customers in many different countries with high quality and new product innovations. The modern production facility built in 1975 boasts enough space for around 1,400 employees.

The company’s success upon transitioning to a market economy in 1990 was due not only to focusing on their core business and the sale of parts of the company, but more importantly to the inventiveness and quality work of their employees.

Since 1994, the company have operated under the nameoddesse Pumpen- und Motorenfabrik GmbH and have been carrying out production for customers in more than 50 countries in state-of-the-art production facilities since 1998.
