Ohmsett - The National Oil Spill Response Research & Renewable Energy Test Facility, is the only place where full-scale spill response training can be conducted with real oil in a marine environment under controlled conditions. Ohmsett is maintained and operated by the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), through a contract with Applied Research Associates, Inc. The National Spill Control School was established in 1977 and was named as a consulting, training, and research resource for the National Response Team in the Oil Pollution Act of 1990. The NSCS offers specialized hands-on OSHA mandated training for spill prevention, planning, and response.
