Product Information OPTOOLTM DSX OPTOOLTM DSX is an innovative antifouling agent, which DAIKIN has developed based on our long experience in original fluorine chemistry technology. As it has a specific structure, it exerts excellent hardening in antifouling and surface smoothness compared with existing antifouling agents. It is especially suitable as an antifouling coating agent for surfaces of various displays and glass lenses. 1. Characteristics Surfaces to which OPTOOL DSX is applied have the following characteristics: - They become water and oil resistant. - They excel in terms of oil performance, especially anti-adhesion for fingerprinting and easy removal. - The sliding angle is reduced, especially that of oil. - It excels in non-cohesiveness. - It excels in ice suppression and easy removal. - It creates low friction surfaces. - It excels in durability. - It provides rapid processing. - It is especially effective on glass and surfaces coated with SiO2. 2. Processing method Examples of coating methods are indicated below: Dipping method Clean the base material to be processed well beforehand. If cleansing is insufficient, the processing agent will not be attached nor respond, preventing the product from working effectively. After soaking the base material, which has been cleaned for one minute, into the processing agent that was diluted into fluorine series solvent (perfluorohexane etc.) to 0.1 mass%, slowly extract it and leave for one hour. When leaving, an atmosphere of high-temperature and humidity (around 60? and 90%RH) is desirable. If the surface shows unevenness, clean ultrasonically or wipe out with a dry cloth. If wiping is difficult, you may use a cloth soaked with fluorinated solvent. Flow method In case the base material is large and it is difficult to immerse the whole material, it is coated with a flow method. The base material to be processed, which has been cleaned, is set at an angle, and the processing agent, which was diluted to 0.1 mass% with perfluorohexane, is poured from the upper side to be wet evenly. Subsequently, it is left and wiped in the same way. Others Coating via a vapor-deposition, spray, and Roll-to-Roll methods is also available. 4. Handling instructions Please be sure to refer to MSDS before you use the agent. ? Wear glasses during use, and be careful to avoid contact with eyes. In case the product comes into contact with the eyes, wash your face with copious running water immediately, and consult your doctor. ? Wear rubber gloves during use. If it comes into contact with skin, wash with soapy water immediately, and rinse sufficiently. ? Avoid inhaling vapors. Work in a well-ventilated place.
