OMI Environmental Solutions’ (OMIES) offers standby rescue services that fully meet OSHA 1910.146 Regulations. The demand for these services has more than doubled over the past year. As a confined space can be encountered in a wide variety of businesses, it is important to recognize when assistance is needed to prevent injury and fatalities. Deaths in confined spaces often occur because the atmosphere is oxygen-deficient, toxic or combustible. It is extremely important for all employees who might be required to work in confined spaces to be aware of the differences in how OSHA defines confined spaces and permit-required confined spaces. A confined space has three major characteristics: (1) a limited or restricted means of entry or exit, (2) a large enough area for an employee to enter and perform work, and (3) is not designed for continuous occupancy by the employee. Add to these three characteristics one or more of the following four characteristics and you have a permit-required confined space: (1) the potential to contain a hazardous atmosphere, (2) the potential for engulfing the entrant, (3) a configured space that might cause an entrant to be trapped or asphyxiated, and or (4) one that contains any other recognized serious safety or health hazards. OMIES has teams that are available 24 hours a day - 7 days a week - 365 days a year. We can provide highly skilled, highly trained, experienced teams that can assist and compliment any confined space need in emergency or non-emergency situations. Our personnel work closely with our customer’s safety staff and managers to effectively identify confined spaces and hazards within their facility. As part of their ongoing commitment to providing the best rescue teams available, OMIES provides two and three person teams that are first aid and CPR trained. Standby rescue services at OMIES have been utilized in a variety of industries including chemical and petrochemical plants, construction sites, military needs, municipal public works, general industry, pipelines, plant shutdowns and turnarounds, power plants, telephone utilities, first responder, and water and waste water facilities. However, there is no limit to OMIES’ ability to serve their customers with standby rescue services. Services Offered: ? Atmospheric Testing ? Bottle & Hole Watch ? Confined Space Project Management, Planning, Supervision & Training ? Emergency Fire Watch ? High Angle/Technical Rescue ? Permit Writing OMI Environmental Solutions (OMIES) provides turnkey waste management services. We are capable of managing and transporting all waste from the smallest of containers to bulk. OMIES is dedicated to offering the most cost-effective, compliant and efficient methods of waste management. Knowing that different customers have different needs, OMIES offers a wide variety of waste disposal and recycle options and services. From industrial services to oil spill and haz-mat response, we are able to wrap up each project with waste disposal, if needed. We collect representative waste samples to submit to accredited environmental laboratories for proper analysis as required by each of the select waste disposal facilities. The nature of the waste stream whether liquid or solid, hazardous or non-hazardous will determine which waste disposal facility OMIES will select as the final resting place for the waste. Whenever possible, recycling is the first and foremost option selected. OMIES will ship waste to a facility as designated by our client. If the client does not have a facility preference, we will select the facility which best suits the waste stream and the client’s best interest. As you know, the “cheapest” option is not always the best option. BIO-HAZARDOUS WASTE CLEANUP &MANAGEMENT From time to time OMIES has been employed to assist with crime scene cleanup and decontamination. Not always does this involve a crime scene – it may be the scene of an accident or any other event that results in the presence of bodily fluids for removal. OMIES’ job is to remove any sign of what happened at the location they have been employed to clean, and to deal with and any biohazards that result from such an incident. As US Federal regulations deem all bodily fluids to be biohazards, any blood or tissue at a crime scene is considered a potential source of infection. COMPRESSED GAS CYLINDER INDENTIFICATION & MANAGEMENT OMIES has years of experience working with regulatory agencies recovering orphaned containers and compressed gas cylinders. Our teams are trained in inspecting and sampling such containers in order to properly identify contents, then profile and dispose. Often times, gas cylinders can be rendered inert and recycled as scrap metal. This, of course, depends on the contents and type of cylinder which we are handling. FIELD SAMPLING SERVICES OMIES has trained technicians capable of an array of environmental sampling. We have the capabil ities and equipment to retrieve samples from drums, soil, pits, lagoons, tank trailers and the sort. Our staff will properly label all sample jars, as well as complete the chain of custody and properly preserve the samples for submittal to an accredited lab. We have extensive experience in evidentiary sampling, as well as sample collection for site assessments and waste characterization. LAB PACK SERVICES OMIES provides a team of trained personnel that will inventory your five gallon and smaller containers, chemically sort, profile, package, label, manifest and transport for proper disposal. When most think of waste management and disposal, they may picture a roll-off box, vacuum truck, or perhaps a truck load of drums. But what about all of the tiny little bottles on the shelf in the chemistry lab? What about the expired medications left behind in a pharmacy that has been closed for years? OMIES can take care of those issues as well. OMIES Waste Management and Disposal teams will inventory these tiny bottles, then, under the direction of a chemist, chemically sort and safely package them into larger pails and drums – lab packs – and properly dispose of the material. NORM SURVEY AND ASSESSMENT (NATURALLY OCCURRING RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS) OMIES has 40 hour trained Radiation Safety Officers on staff in Louisiana and Texas. We are capable of performing site assessments to include a full NORM survey of equipment and land (as well as collect soil samples) and provide all proper documentation to assist with licensing requirements if needed. OMIES also possesses a NORM Specific License in Louisiana. OMIES Radioactive Materials License, as issued by Louisiana DEQ, authorizes for the decontamination, remediation and maintenance of vessels, equipment , facilities, pits, soil and land as well as waste handling. SAMPLING, CATEGORIZATION & DISPOSAL OF “UNKNOWNS” Often times, laboratory analysis is not necessary as we may be disposing of an unused product, paint, and an array of items which can be readily identified. Therefore, through generator and process knowledge, analysis may be omitted. This, of course, is at the discretion of the recycle or waste disposal facility. On the flip side, if the material is completely unknown, OMIES has a solution as well. We have technicians trained in EPA sample methodology that will wear the proper PPE and collec t a 40 ml sample of the unknown substance. This sample is shipped to a laboratory that can qualitatively identify all components within the substance, as well as any hazardous characteristics the substance may exhibit. In essence, we are provided with all information required to properly profile and dispose of the waste and all for less than half the cost of a TCLP analysis. WASTE PROFILING, DISPOSAL & TRANSPORATION SERVICES Proper waste characterization is achieved through a detailed review of information obtained from container labels, Material Safety Data Sheets as well as generator knowledge. OMIES utilizes accredited laboratories when analytical is required to properly classify waste for disposal. In cases where none of the above information is available and the material is truly unknown in nature, OMIES can sample the material and submit to a laboratory for unknown identification, therefore identifying key chemical constituents and hazardous and non-hazardous characteristics. OMI Environmental Solutions’ (OMIES) Transportation division has a large diversified fleet of trucks and equipment. With over 20 years of experience in environmental and waste transportation, OMIES has the knowledge and experience to service our customer’s every need. OMIES strives to be there when you need us for as long as you need us, whether its hours, days, weeks, or months, OMIES can manage your project from start to finish. OMIES’s truck and equipment operators are highly trained professionals. They undergo extensive training in DOT regulations, USCG regulations, and they are all fully licensed to transport hazardous materials. OMIES offers 24 hour dispatch 7 days a week 365 days a year. Other Employee Safety Programs ? Every weekday morning a brief daily safety message is sent to company employees. We want our employees to know that we care about their well-being and to inform them about what is going on that day specific to safety. ? Safety This Week emails are sent so observations and good catches can be used throughout the company as something to learn from, not something to be put in a file cabinet and forgotten. ? The Behavior Based Safety program encourages peer to peer safety observations. Employees are encouraged to identify proper safety practices, as well as practices that need to be corrected. Data received is used to update training and identify areas that need improvement. ? A new quarterly safety incentive program has been implemented for all employees to maintain a focus on safety. ? The OMIES C.A.R.E.S. program emphasizes that our employees are our most important asset. These exercise and drill requirements include: ? Qualified Individual Notifications ? Emergency Procedures ? OSRO Equipment Deployments ? Facility-Owned Equipment Deployments ? Spill Management Team Tabletops ? Unannounced Exercises The Preparedness for Response Exercise Program (PREP) was developed to establish a workable exercise program, which meets the intent of OPA 90. The PREP was developed to provide a mechanism for compliance with the exercise requirements, while being economically feasible for the government and the oil industry to sustain. The PREP is a triennial schedule that includes all the above lis ted exercise and drills, in addition to 15 required components that must be completed during the triennial cycle. The PREP is a unified federal effort and satisfies the exercise requirements for the following agencies: ? U.S. Coast Guard ? Environmental Protection Agency ? DOT, Research and Special Programs Administrations, Office of Pipeline Safety, and ? Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Completion of the PREP exercises will satisfy all OPA 90 mandated Federal (and in some cases State) oil pollution response exercise requirements. Our Drill Management Program meets or exceeds all the exercise requirements for OPA90 and includes the following: ? Quarterly drill packages that schedule and explain the required exercise and/or drills. ? Ensuring the 15 core components are exercised during the triennial cycle. ? Documentation that records completed exercises and drills. ? Assistance in maintaining updated Facility Response Plans. ? On-site guidance of annual Tabletop exercises. ? Maintenance of exercise and drill documentation, and assemblage of annual reports. OMIES can administer, for you, the Preparedness Response Exercise Program. Our Drill Management Program meets or exceeds all the exercise requirements for OPA 90. The cost for this service is: 1–5 Facility Response Plans $1,000.00 per year/per Facility Response Plan 6-12 Facility Response Plans $ 850.00 per year/per Facility Response Plan 13-20 Facility Response Plans $ 750.00 per year/per Facility Response Plan 21+ Facility Response Plans $ 650.00 per year/per Facility Response Plan Included in the price is the cost to facilitate a tabletop at your facilities.
