A brief history

Shur-Co UK Ltd is a market leading European manufacturer of tarps and sheeting systems and part of the Shur-Co LLC group of companies.

Shur-Co LLC was founded in 1954 as a shoe repair shop, before moving on to tarp repairs and then new tarps. The growing tarp business inspired the Shur-Lok™ system in 1980 which meant no more climbing on trucks and trailers to cover and protect loads in transit. Shur-Co LLC continued to expand its product range and quickly became the largest agricultural sheeting system manufacturer in the U.S.

Meanwhile Donovan Enterprises had been formed in 1977 which specialized in front to rear arm driven and pull style tarp systems for the construction and solid waste hauling industries. Due to growing demand in the UK & Europe it was recognised that to offer the full Donovan experience a UK branch was required to maintain the high standards of customer service and support synonymous with the brand. To this end Donovan UK was established in 2006.

Donovan Enterprises continued to grow in the construction and waste markets both in the U.S. and Europe, and such success caught the attention of Shur-Co LLC who with a complementary product range was the perfect fit for both organisations and Shur-Co acquired Donovan in November 2012.

Dawbarn & Sons

Dawbarn & Sons was established over 100 years ago and have been suppliers to the road transport industry for over 50 years. Originally sail makers and ship chandlers we diversified into tarpaulins and other bespoke covers for road transport in the early 1950’s before becoming part of the Shur-Co family in 2022.
