This is done using either a vacuum that exploits the atmospheric pressure, or with the help of pressure, or a combination of vacuum and pressure. A special agitator improves the effectiveness of filtration and enables mechanical discharge of the solid. A horizontal filter cake forms on the horizontal base of the filter allowing optimal recovery of the solid.
