Sluice gate is also known as a penstock or slide gate. It is used to control the flow and to isolate fluids associated with water, wastewater, sewage treatment plants, power generation, irrigation schemes, and process plants. The selection of the Sluice gate in accordance with its duty, is important to satisfy the design criteria and to provide the most cost-effective solution. A modern Sluice gate is designed to cater to a wide variety of duties from low seating to high off-seating heads. The size ranges from 150 mm to 2000 mm. It can be a circular, rectangular, or square section. Operation of the gate can be simple direct operation by use of a handwheel or complex control system for electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic actuation.
