2015 EAS PRELIMINARY PROGRAM Message from the President of the Governing Board Analytical Innovation from Benchtop to Business November 16-18, 2015 Oscar Liu President, EAS 2015 Tempus fugit Exciting times at the 54th Eastern Analytical Symposium and Exposition are rapidly approaching. Registration is now open for EAS, to be held Nov 16-18, 2015 in Somerset, NJ. Be sure to register before October 15th to receive the discounted rate. An event not to be missed is the plenary lecture by Nobel Laureate Professor Kurt Wüthrich entitled “From Basic Research in NMR to Use in Daily Human Life.” The plenary lecture is scheduled at 4:30 pm on Monday, November 16 and will be followed by a mixer. We encourage all EAS registrants to attend. As in past years, we have developed a symposium program that will bring you the latest innovations in analytical science and concepts you need to know. Many vendors have already signed up for the large exposition of instrumentation and services at the Garden State Exhibition Center. Click here for a list of current list of exhibitors. The Program Committee has finalized the schedule of oral presentations; poster presentations will be announced in October. We are continuing to accept poster abstracts until Sept 30. So please submit your latest analytical research to share with colleagues at the 54th EAS. The list of 36 short courses includes courses on many new and novel topics as well as returning favorites. In the pages of this Preliminary Program, you will appreciate the breadth and depth of the technical program and short courses at EAS. I congratulate the winners of the 2015 EAS awards in six areas of endeavor I am pleased to announce our honorees and hope you will attend the award sessions recognizing them for their achievements. It is not too late to nominate a distinguished scientist for one of the 2016 EAS Awards; click here for details. The recipients of the EAS awards are selected by a jury of their peers for excellence in developing theory, techniques or instrumentation in several analytical fields. I am also pleased to announce this year’s four undergraduate and four graduate Student Award winners, selected from a competitive list of nominations They will be honored with a poster session and lunch on Tuesday, November 17th. Do not miss this chance to meet the new generation of analytical scientists and give them encouragement. I hope you are as excited as I am about the opportunity to learn from a Nobel Laureate, EAS award winners, and the many excellent scientists and business leaders who are contributing to the 2015 program, and to explore the latest development in instrumentation and services at EAS. Register for 2015 EAS now. Exciting times at EAS are approaching Oscar Liu, PhD 2015 EAS President PLENARY LECTURE We are excited to announce Nobel Laureate Prof. Kurt Wüthrich will be the Plenary Speaker for EAS 2015 Professor Kurt Wüthrich is a Swiss chemist/biophysicist and Nobel Chemistry laureate, known for developing Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) methods for studying biological macromolecules. Prof. Wüthrich is the Cecil H. and Ida M. Green Professor of Structural Biology at the Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA, USA and a Professor of Biophysics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich), Zürich, Switzerland. In 2002 Professor Wüthrich was awarded Nobel Prize in Chemistry “for his development of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy for determining the three-dimensional structure of biological macromolecules in solution.” Join us to hear Prof. Wüthrich give the Plenary Lecture: “From Basic Research in NMR to Use in Daily Human Life.” Monday, November 16, 2015, 4:30 pm The lecture will be immediately followed by a mixer; ALL registered attendees of EAS are encouraged to attend. 2015 EAS PRELIMINARY PROGRAM Table of Contents Volume #24, Number 3, Whole Number 90 Contents Copyright ©2015 by the Eastern Analytical Symposium & Exposition, Inc.
