Red Starfish - Model CR-140/200/200H - Calcium Reactor - Brochure

The calcium reactor operates in conjunction with carbon dioxide supply device. After carbon dioxide enters the reactor, it dissolves in water and produces acid H2CO3. Carbonic acid reacts with calcium carbonate CaCO3 in the reactor to form Calcium bicarbonate (HCO3)2, which flows into the fish tank and increases the carbonic acid content in fish tank water. Since calcium bicarbonate is soluble in water, it can be absorbed by marine life and converted back into calcium carbonate, an important part of its skeleton.
