At Remon, a deferrization plant is an open purification system in which well water (groundwater) is atomized at the top of the filter tower. The presence of oxygen oxidises metals like iron and manganese in the back of the filter package. If the filter pack is saturated over time, the backwash system is automatically activated. A reverse flushing cycle, in combination with gusts of wind, ensures that the filter package is cleaned and ready for further purification. Remon started the production of the first real ‘fully automatic’ deferrization plant more than 40 years ago.
