The product design process, made to create new products, is a very broad concept that begins with the generation and development of new ideas and leads to the manufacturing of new products. In the industry, the process of managing the lifecycle of a new product from inception, through engineering design and manufacturing, is called the product lifecycle management (PLM). Reverse engineering stands among all engineering processes involved in the PLM.
