Lundberg Associates’ flooded forced circulation crystallizer, concentrator and heavy liquor heater is offered with the Reynolds Enhanced Heat Transfer (REX) technology. The REX technology consists of installing spiral inserts within each tube of the heat exchanger. The helical insert imparts a swirl to the liquor at lower velocities thereby increasing shear at the tube wall and increasing the heat transfer rate in viscous fluids. • Reduces horsepower consumption by as much as 45% over conventional technology • Improves resistance to fouling and scaling • Provides superior run time between cleanings • Still allows a hydroblast wand to pass down the center of the tube for the entire length • Can easily be retrofitted into existing flooded forced circulation crystallizers and heavy liquor heaters The end result of the REX technology is reduced recirculation flow across the flooded heat exchanger that in turn greatly reduces operating horsepower and cost.
