Safety Relief Valves Brochure
The most effective protection against overpressure from 5 mbar to 45 bar / 0.07 psi to 650 psiTECHNOLOGY FOR GASESSecure your systems and components with safety relief valves from WITTPROTECTION AGAINST OVERPRESSUREFUNCTIONWITT safety relief valves are spring loaded, direct-acting safety relief valves. As soon as the set opening pressure is reached, aspring-loaded element in the valve triggers and opens for blow-ing off. After the pressure equalisation, the valve closes auto-matically and would respond again immediately in the event of arenewed pressure increase. Depending on the gas and applicat-ion, the valves can either blow off freely or be connected to ablow-off pipe. The opening pressure is set at the factory for WITTvalves, appropriate to the permissible operating pressure of thesystem to be protected. MATERIALSWITT safety relief valves are made from high-quality materials. They are extremely robust and suitable for a wide variety of gasesand applications. Brass is normally the standard material used forhousings in numerous applications. For aggressive and corrosivegases, the housings are made from high-quality stainless steel(1.4541/AISI 321, 1.4404/AISI 316L, 1.4305/AISI 303 or 1.4571/AISI316Ti). Depending on the gas type and customer requirement, diverse sealing materials are available, ensuring safety even underthe most demanding conditions. For operators of pressurised systems and components they arethe last line of defense before excess pressure becomes a disaster: Safety relief valves. Safety relief valves from WITT pro-vide effective protection against overpressure by blowing off vapours and gases from pipes, pressure vessels and system com-ponents. WITT offers individually tested safety relief valves withindividually adjustable opening pressures from 5 mbar to 45 bar /0.07 psi to 650 psi Their small size, position-independent instal-lation and sturdy materials allow a wide range of applications.WITT safety relief valves are available in brass, stainless steel oraluminium, also as a manually ventilated version as well as withor without condensate outlet. On request, the individually setopening pressures can be certified with a TÜV (German TechnicalInspectorate) certificate. TANK CONSTRUCTIONNo matter whether transport contai-ners, storage tanks, biogas tanks ormixing and metering vessels –WITTsafety relief valves protect diverse applications in the area of tank construction, even against the lowestoverpressures.INDUSTRIAL FURNACE CONSTRUCTIONIndustrial furnace construction ofteninvolves working with protective gasatmospheres. The process chambersshould be protected against over-pressure – ideally with safety reliefvalves from WITT.WITT safety relief valves safeguard pipes, pressure vessels and system components from excessive gas pressureAPPLICATIONSValve pistonScrewing ringSpring retainerValve sealCompression springHousing1234561236354Closed OpenINSULATORS AND REACTORSInsulators and glove box systems fre-quently involve work in a protectivegas atmosphere. WITT safety reliefvalves protect the housing and thereactors installed to clean the inertgas against overpressure and ensuresafe work.PIPES AND PLANT CONSTRUCTIONPipes with various gases must be pro-tected against overpressure in pipesand system construction. This can in-volve simulation systems, researchplants, systems and pipes for recove-ring helium or also supply facilities fornitrogen shielding in the semiconduc-tor industry.HYDROGEN VEHICLESHydrogen-powered vehicles must beprotected with safety valves in linewith the regulation EC 79/2009. WITToffers a safety relief valve speciallyapproved by the Kraftfahrt-Bundes-amt (German Federal Motor TransportAuthority) for this purpose, therebysatisfying the highest requirements.CONNECTIONSYou can order WITT safety relief valves with various connections.Besides the standard versions with normal male and female thre-ads, designs with KF or CF flanges, VCR or UNF threads are alsoavailable. Adapters are available for connecting to blow-off lines. CERTIFIED QUALITYModern production and a comprehensive quality managementsystem guarantee the highest WITT quality for your safety. WITTsafety relief valves are manufactured in accordance with best engineering practices and the relevant safety regulations for de-sign, material selection and resistance. For maximum security,WITT typically offers a 100% component test for the model seriesSV805/SV805A, in other words, every safety valve of this series isindividually pre-tested to ensure fault-free reliability before it isdelivered. On request, we can also supply an individual accept-ance by TÜV with a certificate (module F according to 97/23/EC)as verification that the opening pressure of each individual valveis correctly set.THE BENEFITS OF WITT SAFETY RELIEF VALVES • Minimum opening pressures make even the smallest pressure rises controllable• Opening pressure individually adjustable depending on the model in the
