Dry rotary vane vacuum pumps and compressors
This type of pump is made up of a cylindrical body in which a rotor rotates eccentrically; the rotor has grooves into which the vanes are inserted. The vanes are free to slide along the grooves of the rotor, and the centrifugal force created during rotation pushes them into contact with the body, creating closed spaces that gradually increase the volume by bringing in air from the container to be emptied and expelling it through the exhaust pipe. If used as a compressor, the air drawn in from the environment is conveyed to the exhaust to be used. The rotary vane pump therefore operates according to the following principle: the operating volume of the pump increases from zero to maximum value by drawing in outside air. This volume is then isolated and gradually reduced to push the air outward through the exhaust pipe.
