External Relief Valve An externalrelief valve is always required to protectthe pump from the damage caused bythe overpressure in case the dischargeline is accidentally closed when the pumpis in operation.2. Pulsation Dampener Use of apulsation dampener is required if thedischarge pipe is over 10 ft. (3 m) longfor the models 70XX and 71XX and over5 ft. (1.5 m) long for models 72XXand the discharge pressure is over25 psi (1.75 bar).3.
