We’re Making Waves . . .Founded in 1953 (as The Burhans-Sharpe Company), Sharpe Mixers has dedicated over50 years to liquid mixing equipment. Innovative problem solving and our advancementin mixing technology have gained us recognition as a “preferred choice” agitator manufacturer. Good reputations don’t come easily. Ours has been forged through a commitment to uncompromised quality in engineering, manufacturing and service. Eachcustomer has different needs, and our customers come back because of our ability tomeet those individual needs.Seattle is home for one of the world’s largest shipping ports, aircraft manufacturers, computer software giants and Sharpe Mixers. The wealth of talent and capacity in thePacific Northwest is vast, helping us provide aerospace quality manufacturing using leading edge technology.Experience • Service • DesignThe applications group will draw upon over 150 cumulative years of knowledge in liquidmixing when sizing your equipment. Every mixer built is backed by this experience, soyou can be confident that your Sharpe Mixer will do what we say it will do.Our expertise is in providing solutions for mixing problems. Applications engineers willwork together with you and your local Sharpe Mixers representative to define the processand equipment requirements for your application. A detailed proposal will quickly bedelivered describing the best mixer for your needs. Order processing, engineering andproduction personnel will provide this same level of personal service. Whether it is a special process or a mechanical specification, attention to detail throughout the organization assures that each customer’s unique requirement is met.Two primary objectives of the applications and design teams are to provide maximumyield and energy savings for the customer. Required process result, tank geometry, impeller characteristics, and mechanical design are all considered when sizing the equipment to produce ideal mixer selections. Every selection is closely scrutinized usingour exclusive Q1 analysis computer. This thorough modeling system examines dozens ofmixing parameters and optimizes mechanical design as well. Engineers design the mixerfull scale on one of our CAD stations, incorporating the tank layout to assure a perfectfit. For bestresults on your tough mixing problems, sendthe materials to our bench scale laboratoryso we can optimize the selection for yourparticular process. We will “get to know”your product through various scaled modeltesting procedures and computer evaluations.Product DiversityAt Sharpe Mixers we don’t make your process fit our mixer, we build the mixer to fit yourprocess. We manufacture a tremendous variety of top and side entry agitators, from 1/6to 300 horsepower. As your “one-source” mixer supplier, we offer custom designs as wellas standard product lines we keep in stock. This broad product scope allows us to makeunbiased recommendations to solve your mixing problem, while others may be forced tochoose from their limited equipment list. From solids suspension to gas dispersion, blending to chemical reaction, each process has unique requirements and Sharpe Mixerswill design the system to satisfy those needs.Impeller TechnologyImpeller design is a key element in optimizing a mixing system. Sharpe Mixers impellerdesigns range from simple flat blade radial flow and axial flow turbines to elaborate double helixes and anchors, to mix fluids with viscosities from waterlike up through amillion centipoise. Our exclusive family of “hydrofoil blade” Hyflo impellers was developed through extensive testing and consultation with aerospace engineers to reachthe highest in pumping efficiency. Our unique split hubs offer ease of installation, adjustability and removal, even after years of service.(Above) An agitation system is checked on CADand the Q1 mixer analysis program.(Above left) Two 75 HP polymerization agita-tors undergo final inspection prior to shipment.(Above right) Portable mixer line: All stainlesssteel mixer; nickel-plated mixer; white epoxyUSDA wash-down mixer; standard gear driveportable; standard direct drive portable; thriftyportable mixer.ApplicationsShaft SealsSharpe Mixers offers a wide variety of seal designs from which to choose includingvapor seals, packed glands and a myriad of mechanical seals. Sharpe's premiumUNIMECH™ mechanical seal system includes a radial load bearing integral to the sealhousing. This extends seal life, and allows the seal to be serviced without draining thetank or disturbing the mixer. Interchangability of seal components allows easy fieldmodifications to accommodate possible changes in the mixing process. Split seals arealso available, or your mixer can be built using the seal design preferred at your plant. No matter which seal is used, Sharpe Mixers designs always allow easy access and simple maintenance with minimum downtime.Specialty EquipmentSharpe Mixers is an engineering firm which manufactures mixers, and many customersreturn to us because we offer custom-made solutions to their mixing problems.Although we utilize mass production wherever possible for our standard model lines, many agitation systems require a more individual specialized approach. If the requirement is exotic alloys or coatings, special polishing or unique equipment designs, our team will draw on extensive experience to put together quality equipment meetingthose needs. Satisfying customer specifications (i.e., special testing, packaging, paintingand data requirements) is foremost in our job description.
