Slope displacement monitoring

Comprehensive slope stability monitoring using the fTB 2505 monitoring system The stability of many geo-slopes carries large economic, social and political importance. Traditional monitoring systems can only monitor a limited number of locations, potentially leaving instable locations unmonitored. fibrisTerre’s distributed fTB 2505 fibre optic sensing system is capable of monitoring both deep seated slope movements and slope surface deformation simultaneously. With its long distance range of up to 25 km, it is capable to continuously monitor the vertical displacement profile of hundreds of locations and deformation of slope surface square kilometers in size all on its own. Deep seated slope displacement monitoring By fitting fibre optic cables into vertical boreholes, the strain profile of the boreholes can be continuously measured. Through co-relations, the strain data can be converted to soil displacement profile. Depending on the spacing and depth of the vertical profiles, up to hundreds of such monitoring locations can be connected to one automated sensing system, helping continuous and unmanned monitoring become an economically viable solution. Shallow seated slope deformation monitoring Geo-textiles embedded with fiber optic cables can be placed underneath the surface of geo-slopes. Any deformation of the slope surface would strain the geotextile. This strain is then detected and measured by the embedded sensing fiber optic cables. Key features Truly distributed measurements Capable of measuring every meter along the sensor cable, the system does not leave any hazardous location unattended Full digitization and fast response Fully digitized and automated, any excess displace or strain is detected within minutes of occurrence. Precise pin-pointing location With 0.5 m resolution unstable slope areas can be narrowed down to a precise location. Economic advantage fTB 2505’s long range and automation enables large sized monitoring programs without the necessity of having personnel onsite. Robustness fTB 2505 offers industry leading attenuation budget through which the sensing cables can function even in the harshest environments. Field friendliness Weighing merely 13 kg and consuming as little as 60 W of power, fTB 2505 is ideal for the field. About fibrisTerre Contact us fibrisTerre is a structural health monitoring system provider. It utilizes the pioneering BOFDA fiber-optic sensing technology to answer industry’s demand for truly distributed and economically viable monitoring solutions for critical engineering structures. Geotextiles equipped with fiber optic sensors can be integrated into geo-structures such as river embankments, unstable natural soil slopes and open mine slopes. Any excess soil deformation can be timely recognized by the sensors, allowing appropriate response prior to any costly failure. fibrisTerre GmbH Köpenicker Str. 154 10997 Berlin Germany tel +49 30 6290 1320 info@fibristerre.de www.fibristerre.de
