Small Diameter ATR Probes DPR–207 AND DMD–270
Diamond-tipped and conventional probes forresearch and process development applicationModels DPR-207 and DMD-270 areATR Immersion probes featuring excellent photometric accuracy and precision combined with the small diameter commonly required forresearch and process developmentapplications. The key to their high performance is the use of a single goldcoated light guide combined with ATRelement designs which precisely controlthe range of incidence angles and number of reflections at the sampleinterface. As a result, calibrations developed with these probes can be transferred between the two models orbetween these and Axiom’s larger diameter, high transmission “process”probes with only a minor scaling adjustment.DPR-207: Versatile Probe for DiverseApplicationsThe DPR-207 is a robust ATR probeemploying interchangeable conical ATRelements in conjunction with nearly collimated IR radiation. This combination insures that all optical raysstrike the sample interfacing surfacewithin a range of +, - 1º, resulting in avery high degree of response linearityand precision. The selection of standard element materials includes ZnSe, ZnS,AMTIR-1, silicon, and sapphire, allowingthe probe characteristics to be alteredas application requirements change.DMD-270: Diamond-tipped Probe forAggressive ChemistriesThe DMD-270 provides high perfor-mance throughout the mid-IR fingerprintregion combined with the ability to standup to strong acids, bases, and manyother aggressive chemistries. In addition, its proprietary optical design(Patent pending)insures that each ray experiences exactlythree reflections at awell defined angle ofincidence, resulting inexcellent accuracyand precision.S p e c t r o m e t e rInterfacingThree different Features:?? Small diameter to minimize required sample size? Easily interfaced to any FTIR spectrometer? Diamond element for excellent corrosion resistance (DMD-270)? Interchangeable ATR elements to meet diverse requirements (DPR-207)? Proprietary optical designs for maximum photometric accuracy and precision? Robust construction for maximum reliabilitystandard interfaces are available for coupling either a DPR-207 or a DMD-270 to an FTIR spectrometer. ModelDSR-207XY ables the probe to be coupled directly to the sample compartment of a conventional FTIRspectrometer. The suffixes X and Y areused to specify the spectrometer makeand model. Model DSX-207 interfaces to Axiom’s AXM-601 outboard sample module. This provides a high degree of flexibility inplacement of the probe by allowing various combinations of Axiotmirror and conduit modules to be usedbetween the sample module and thespectrometer. Finally, model DSD-207XS couples the probe to a dedicatedprocess FTIR spectrometer employingdual input and output beam ports.Whichever optical configuration isemployed, the small diameter probesshould be operated with a liquid nitrogen cooled detector for best performance.Sample InterfacingSingle lightguide probes are normally supplied with an O-ring sealedsliding tapered joint (24/40) to mate to aglass reaction vessel. Since then, the company’s immersion probe productlines have continued to expand toinclude ATR, transmission, diffusereflectance, and Raman probes to meetvirtually all applications. In addition tothe DPR-207 and DMD-270, the company’s ATR probe family includesthe DIPPER-210 QC sampler and theDPR-240 and the DMD-370 high transmission process probes.Axiom Analytical, Inc. · 17751 Sky Park Circle #ABC · Irvine, CA 92614Tel: (949) 757-9300 · Fax: (949) 757-9306Web: www.goaxiom.com · Email: info@goaxiom.comFigure 1: Cross-section of an inboardDMD-270 or DPR-207 System (recommended configuration).ProbeSensing HeadTransfer OpticsSampleCompartmentPickoffFTIRSpectrometerSpecifications:Probe Diameter:Immersion Depth:ATR Reflections:Angle of Incidence:Nominal Transmission:Maximum Temperature:Maximum Pressure:Wetted Metal:Seal Type:16 mm30 cm2 (See Note)45° (See Note)2-4 %280°CSee table below316 Stainless SteelEnergized, filled PTFE16 mm30 cm345°1.5-2 %200°C (Continuous)250°C (Intermittent)30 barHastelloy C-276Energized,filled PTFEDMD-270DPR-207Notes: 1.
