Lundberg Syste m’s SLDS II was deve loped for use in the Kraf t pu lp ing recovery process wheresoap and l iquor separate . Knowing where the in ter face between soap and l iquor as well as the soaplayer th ickness has alwa ys been a prob lem. The SLDS II Leve l System acc urate ly prov idescont inuous mea surem ents o f the soap layer th ickness. The system is modular in des ign, availa blein a se lect ion o f e lec t ron ics hous ing s ty les and sensor hose measurement lengths. SYSTEM BENEFITS• Reduce operator a t tent ion o f tank leve ls .• Can prevent s lugs o f soap f rom enter ing downst ream equipm ent.• Increased Evaporator e f f ic iency in pu lp ing appl ications.• Reduce env i ronmenta l spill hazards.• Improved Tall O i l quali ty con trol.• Low ins ta lled cap i ta l costs .• Low maintenance costs .EQUIPMENT BENEFITS• Does not require re-ca l ibra t ion over t ime.• Only needs one opening on the top o f the tank .• Longest measurement range f loat in ter face detector on the mar ket.• Easy commiss ion ing via PC based sof tware.• Measurement in processes that have low dielec tric proper t ies .• Operates in very harsh process condi t ions.S L D S I I - SOAP L A Y E R D E T E C T I O N S Y S T E MInterface Flush ArrangementInterface FloatPRINCIPLE OF OPERATIONInterface Transmit ter - L iquor/Soap Interface Level Measurement The in ter face leve l t ransmi t ter senses the pos i t ion o f an externa l f loat located a t the inter face bymeasur ing the changing res is tor a t tenuat ion s igna l ins ide o f the sensor hose which passes throughthe f loat assemb ly. The sensor e lement and e lec t ron ics hous ing may be removedf rom the sensor hose wi thout d is turb ing the process. The in ter face t ransmi t ter is f lange mountedon the top o f the tank and the sensor hose ins ide is kept taut us ing a suspended anchor a t tachedto the bot tom end of the sensor hose. The f loat ass em bly is 16"(400mm) in d iameter and has beendes igned to f lo at only a t the l iquor/soap in ter face. Depending on the ins ta lla t ion, the in ter facet ransmi t ter can be ins ta lled while the process is runn ing. Built into the in ter face t ransmi t ter f langeis a l iquor f lush connect ion which a l lows the flexib le hose sur face to be c leaned perio dica lly. Set-up, ca l ib rat ion and d iagnost ics are availa ble f rom any po in t on the 4-20 m A loop us ing standardHART proto col.Microwave Radar Transmit ter - Soap Layer Surface Level MeasurementThe Microwave radar t ransmi t ter is a downward po in t ing measur ing system, based on the t ime-of-f l ight method. I t measures the d is tance between the f lange connect ion and the top o f the soap layer.Radar impulses are emi t ted by the horn antenna, re f lec ted of f the soap layer sur face and rece ivedaga in by the radar system. The re f lec ted radar impulses are rece ived by the horn antenna andt ransmi t ted into the e lec t ron ics . A microprocessor eva luates the s igna l and ident if ies the echo leve lcaused by the re f lec tion o f the radar impulse a t the soap layer sur face. From th is , a 4 to 2 0m A leve ls igna l is generated. Set -up, ca l ib rat ion and d iagnost ics are availa ble f rom any po in t on the 4-20 m Aloop us ing standard HART proto col.S L D S I I - SOAP L A Y E R D E T E C T I O N S Y S T E MSPECIFICATIONSI n t e r f a c e T r a n s m i t t e rMeasured Variable: Liquor/Soap Interface LevelElectronics Ambient Operating Temperature: -40/F to 185/F (-40/C to 85/C)Sensor Operating Temperature: -40/F to 300/F (-40/C to 150/C)Measurement Accuracy: +/-1.5 inch / (+/- 38mm)Interface Transmitter Mounting: 3" or DN80 Flange 304SSFlange Rating: 150# or PN10Sensor Hose: 304SS braided corrugated hoseInterface Float: 16"(400mm) diameter, Stainless steel, SG adjustableLiquor Flush Connection: ½" MNPT or specif ied.R a d a r T r a n s m i t t e rMeasured Variable: Soap Surface LevelElectronics Ambient Operating Temperature: -40/F to 176/F (-40/C to 80/C)Sensor Operating Temperature: -40/F to 302/F (-40/C to 150/C)Measurement Accuracy: +/- 0.2 inch (+/- 5mm)Radar Transmitter Mounting: 6" or DN150 Flange 316SSAntenna/Horn: Tef lon/6"(150mm) SS HornFlange Rating: 150# or PN10G e n e r a lLevel Measuring Range: 0 to 90 feet(27 meters)Output Signals: 4 to 20mA DC, 2-wire loop poweredSupply Voltage: 12 to 30 VDC, (I .S.)Housing: NEMA 4X, aluminum housing(radar) & 316SS(Interface)Anchor: 4"(100mm) x 5"(125mm)Set-up Communication: HART communication hardware & softwareApprovals: Intrinsically Safe - Class I, I I , I I I , Div. 1 Groups A-D - CSA I I 2GD EEx bi I IC - CENELEC/ATEX Class I, I I , I I I , Div. 1 Groups A-G - FMR TYPICAL INSTALLATION
